Shouldn't you include a poll option for "I don't own a PS4/Xbox One?
This is pretty nitpicky (even thou I answered the option "don't own...") but I don't see why he should need to have that option there.
He is specifically asking for those who have the previous gen, who also get the new gen console, if they will continue to buy games and play on the old one. So I don't see why he should include a poll option for those coming into a thread they basically don't have anything to do in.

I know I just did exactly what I said above. And it's nice he has added that option, and knowing this is the Escapist a lot of people who don't have anything to do with the poll will come in. But we could just post in the thread :p

Will continue to buy ps3 games because they will still support it for some time and there are still titles that I need to get.

I'll keep buying them as long as I damn well can. I'm really dreading the transition to paid online. If it weren't for Armored Core I'd get a decent PC and join the master race.

I don't think I'l get a PS4 until theres at least 10 games out for it that I want AND a decent postal rental service up and running in the U.K so I'll probably be waiting a good while before I upgrade so I'l keep playing PS3.

I have a massive list of PS4 games that I want to play too that I haven't got around to playing too.

I chose "I don't own one", but if I find a really super cheap PS3 somewhere - possible now that the PS4 is coming out - I might get one for the exclusives. Of course, I'd like a better TV to play it on; would feel like a waste playing it on my old CRT TV.

I haven't brought a retail game for my 360 since Halo 4 which was just over a year ago, but I am thinking about picking up a PS3 when they go super cheap just so that I can try out the exclusives that everyone was going on about like Uncharted and The Last of Us. I thought that I may as well, now that the PS4 is out I can imagine that there are going to be quite a few second hand PS3's out there, so now is the perfect time to get one.

I've been slowly shifting to PC, and there's nothing on next-gen that really grabs me yet. If there's a console exclusive, I will almost certainly buy it for the PS360, rather than shelling out for next gen.

So in my opinion you'd have to be pretty stupid to buy anything for next gen that you can get for less on current gen.
But what about games that are clearly better on next gen?For example Battlefield 4 is capped at 24 players on 360/PS3 whereas the Xbone/PS4 versions support 64 players. Why is it stupid to buy the better version even if the current gen versions are cheaper?

In answer to the original question. No I'll continue to buy 360 games as I have no plans to upgrade to Xbone for the foreseeable future.I'm happy with my 360 and Wii U for the time being

That is something I forgot to mention (mostly because I dont care/play them much) games with online servers and lobbies, which people will want to be competitive with further into the future, I can probably understand why you would want them on next gen. As the 360/ps3 servers will be shutting down in a few years, so these games will have a longer lifespan on next gen.

As for the the new battlefield I'd still go for a ps3/360 version. In my mind 24 generic soldiers is way more than enough for me to have in one game, so I couldn't condone buying it for that reason. If you wanted it so you would still be able to play it when the ps3 servers shut down, I'd say thats a very sensible reason.

GTAV is likely the last title I'll purchase for the 360, but not because I'm getting a next-gen console.

Everything I get from here on out will be for the PC.

You may want to add that option to the poll.
Nah

I have a gaming PC too. I just dont feel the need to shove anything PC into console threads. That way none of the PC types can act like assholes and try and run down consoles. I probably should have mentioned that in the OP but I'm sick of doing it.

I still will buy last gen games. In fact just two days after I got my Xbox One I got Rayman Legends for my 360, but that was released in September. People like to buy last gen games on the next gen not just for looks but to pad out their libraries (I'm getting AssCreed IV and if it's on next gen Batman: Arkham Origins at some point on the Xbox One).

As for new games? Well it depends, say if something is released on the 360 which is vastly cheaper than the One version I might pick it up (it could happen in two years or so).

I will likely never own a next gen console. I can't afford it and my computer is finally good enough to play the games I really need to have. My 360 is dying though and there are some games I already have so I'm going to pick up a slim black Friday for dirt cheap. I probably won't buy another console game period.

I might get a PS3 to play Persona 5. I would probably want to play some of the exclusive games I've missed out on (Killzone, MGS).

Assuming I own both consoles...I'd always buy the newest generation version of a game. This is primarily for two reasons:
1) The game will likely look prettier or offer something 'improved' to the experience

2) The new console should be more reliable than an older gen. I have more confidence in my PS4 lasting 3 year from today than my PS3 lasting like 8 years since I bought it long ago.

This doesn't mean I'll NEVER buy a last gen game. I'm interested in The Last of Us for example, but I might as well wait till it's $10 dollars to buy it assuming I still have interest in it then.
