Me too...because Amazon is awesome like that. I only just started getting back into the PS3...I have a lot to catch up on and some 360 games to re-buy because trophies. Also, Just Cause, Saint's Row, etc are great games anyway.Flatfrog said:I still buy PS2 games
All the more reason they should do it in order to sell more new titles they have to get people to buy the damn system. I wont be touching the damn thing I have plenty if not to many consoles I am playing. Hell if the computer didn't get half of them via emulation I'd have 20 consoles plugged in!cloroxbb said:Haha, at least you have that luxury. Not until the PS2 and the Gameboy Advance did backwards compatibility even exist for the mainstream console/handheld owners. Well technically the Atari 7800 was BC with 2600, and I may have missed another one...ZippyDSMlee said:Since neither the PS4 or Xbone play PS360 titles I wont be buying any PS4 Xbone products....EVER.
The SNES didn't play NES games, the N64 didn't play SNES games, Gamecube no N64... PS2 played PS1, but PS3 only played PS2 for one or two hardware iterations, and then that was gone.
Backwards compatibility is nice, but gamers shouldn't EXPECT it. That's just my opinion though.
They have to build 2 systems into 1 console, both consoles have switched to PC x86 processors instead of Cell (PS3) and whatever the 360 had (some custom processor). This would have pushed the console's prices up to the PS3's launch price, something Sony was very much trying to avoid, and Microsoft wasn't keen on either. It's a pain but in the long term it future proofs the console's games as future consoles will be backwards compatible with these systems assuming they don't switch chipset again.Guffe said:WiiU owner.
Don't have 3/360
I still get to play my old Wii games on my new console.
I don't see why they have taken away the backwards compability
Does it destroy the console somehow?
Does it take away from the power of new gen games?
I doubt it's that difficult to overcome a problem like this, unless it has with money to do of course i.e. people buying games cheaper for a new console (old console games) if that option is available
