People always say that red wine goes best with meat, and white with fish. Or whatever it is...

But tell me, which do you personally prefer on it's own? I.e, just a glass of wine without any food.
I like white the most. Don't know why, i just do

Red wine for me. I can't do white. Somebody insisted I try "the best white wine ever" once and said that if that didn't turn me on to white wine then nothing would. To me it tasted like somebody shoved rotten berries and flowers in my mouth then punched me.

White... Hm, i don't know what it is called in english but the one with the latest grapes, the sweet one. Tastes awesome.

But if you want to drink enough to get "the buzz" it is red wine you want.
The really sweet, bubbly one? If so I think you mean Asti.
Well.. what i mean is "Spätlese"... roughly translated "late harvest". No idea how the english call it... and i am too lazy to look it up *g*.

Asti seems to be a specific brand, not a type?
I think I'm getting what you're talking about, and if I am, here it's called ice wine. It's when the frost starts to form on the grapes right?

If that's what you're talking about, then yes, it's bloody delicious.

I don't mind both, but I prefer white served on the right temperature, in the right glass. So beautiful and graceful.

I prefer white zindafel--white in and of itself is nice every once in a while, but I prefer to have red wine with a meal; especially steak.

I like white better than red. Red is too acidic.

At my cousin's wedding a few years ago, I drank just about the entire bottle of white wine that was on the table I was sitting at. I got kinda tipsy and made a fool of myself dancing and making "speeches". Good times.

[small]You know most people on here are 16-21?[/small]
Many European cultures involve drinking wine from a young age you know. That means a glass at meals (sometimes regardless of age, it is considered health (and is))

Most people on here are British or American though - so it is a little odd.

Believe it or not, Britain = Europe! Well part of Europe anyway. It's fairly common practise in England...from what I've heard, you must come from an unusual place!

You've never heard the distinction made between Europe and mainland Europe? Most of the time, when people say the former, they are referring to the latter.

It's really not that common over here.

You must be from a different part of England to me then... makes 'over here' seem kinda amusing though. Nonetheless, this thread's grown a fair bit, so I suppose your original point has died somewhat.

EDIT: Ironically, I'm drunk on said wine, amongst other things, so I don't intend any offence that may be in my post.

If I drink wine, I prefer a red wine. But that is rare, I don't really like wine all that much.
