Reeves; can't emote worth a damn, constantly looks tired and/or bored
Bloom; never seen him do much other than stare into the middle-distance and look bemused
Costner; not terrible, but certainly not good, feels too much like he's patting himself on the back all the time
Owen; can't really comment i can only remember his occasional action roles, in which he's always just stoic and quipic with general disinterest
Hamill; seem's a little out of place, seeing as he's become quite a talented voice actor

on some other names getting some hate

Tom Cruise; can be alright in his less 'Tom Cruise vehicle' movies, but is often too high-energy in my opinion
Adam Sandler; hard to call him a bad actor, as i cant really call him an actor at all, a bad comedian on the other hand...
Robert Pattinson; havnt seen him shine, but he he's never had the oppotunity,
Taylor Lautner; yeah, just awful, no way to sugar-coat it
Hugh Grant; can't stand the man or his brand of poorly balanced, sickly rom-com
Nicolas Cage; when he tries he can deliver, but he rarely does so
Sam Worthington; the least interesting leading man in a long time, made robots and greek gods dull
Simon Pegg; i agree his hollywood roles have been weak, but i'd blame the lack of people who know how to write for Pegg

i'd have to go with Worthington

The list seems a bit outdated... I mean Hamill stopped being mainstream when Star Wars "ended", and Costner has more or less gone into hiding ever since Waterworld. Same with Reeves after The Matrix. They're obviously mainstream folk, just not terribly relevant nowadays. Bloom isn't that hot anymore, and Owen, excuse me, I think is a pretty competent actor.

Most of the obvious picks have been taken but I'll say it again - Kristen Stewart. Her acting range consists of a dopey squint and her career choices suck. What more do you want?

That's a tough one to answer. Mainstream actors are usually capable enough, but miscast. Tom Cruise is actually good at playing Magnificent Bastards, but Hollywood is firmly affixed to the idea that he's required by law to be a walking action movie hero. Keanu Reeves is awesome once you give him a douchebag role - and he's had a few. Wanna know why he sucked in the Matrix? Neo's character was flat and under-designed. I'm pretty sure *anyone* would have equally sucked as Neo.

Worthington's probably good, but he's more or less made himself out to be *the* Army Dude par excellence. We'll have to wait for some ballsy director to really up-end the dude in front of the camera by sticking him in an atypical role for talent to really show.

Shia LaBeouf is one of those guys who's maybe gotten their big break a little too early. I enjoyed him in Disturbia, though.

The worst actor alive in all spheres considered, however, would have to be Tommy Weisseau. Guy looks like he was coked-up on a daily basis from as early on as kindergarten. Or maybe smoking a fatty is part of his idea of a balanced breakfast. He's an untalented, tactless hack, and he coats it all with some sort of sanity-defying Breezy Cool attitude that makes me lose a couple dozen brain cells just thinking about it.

Watch "The Room". Seriously. It's the worst movie ever made. It's a staggering waste of celluloid, and that alone should give it a space in the Criterion Collection.

What was wrong with his role of Khal Drogo?

Christian Bale. He goes all cross-eyed whenever he looks straight at the camera, and his Batman voice was terrible. Sounded like Rorschache with a cold. Sorry, I know that's synonymous with pointing out the cake is a lie at this point, but I can't help it. Tired joke, AWAAAAAY!!

Too much choice for me to really work off of. Nick Cage, Kristen Stewart, and a lot of others belong here, but here is an actor that a bunch of folks love but I hate.

I'll get a bit of hate for this but Russel-Fucking-Crowe. He doesn't act, he reads his lines with all the wooden life of puppet with cut strings. He has an ego the size of Australia and plays himself in every role he is in. Plus because he is so fucking full of himself, he throws a hissy fit when the writers do even the slightest thing with his characters that he does not like.

Horrible actor on stage. Terrible person off stage.

Taylor 'blow up man doll' Lautner. Now that Twilight's over we may have finally seen the last of him, hopefully it's made him nice and rich so he doesn't have to appear in any more films.

Aaaaaaaaanyway... Shia LaBouf, I guess. Or however you spell his dumb name. God he's bad.
He's not an actor, it's a decal they put on the man model in Transformers movies. There isn't actually a person behind the rag doll.

*shurg* I really don't actively hate anyone. There's no one that I dread seeing on screen. I've seen bad movies don't get me wrong, but I honestly don't remember the actors or the movies enough to make a judgement call.

Shia LaBouef isn't the worst actor, but he does annoy me beyond belief. Also, cannot believe you've put Clive Owen on the list; he's excellent - and so is Mark Hamil's Joker.

I can't stand Matt LeBlanc (Joey from Friends)

"Mainstream" is kind of a nebulous term to apply.

Out of the actors listed on this thread so far, Taylor Lautner is, by far, the worst actor, but I don't know if I would consider him mainstream as outside of the Twilights he may as well not even exist. But still, terrible actor.

Out of the poll list, I would say Bloom is the worst actor, but not really mainstream anymore, Costner is the most overrated but not terrible, and Hamill doesn't belong there at all. That sorta gives Reeves the win by default, but I can think of a lot worse than him.

And to add a couple to the list: Ben Stiller (yeah I know some people like his schtick, but he is an awful actor), and Chris Pine (appropriate name for a guy who takes the term 'wooden performance' to a whole nother level)

I would also like to add a special nod to Rob Shneider. He is in virtually every Sandler movie and manages to make Sandler, who has gotten a lot of votes here, look talented by comparison.

Matt Damon, I would put up there as well.
Why? I think he's perfectly fine, though I haven't seen that many of his films. He's really good in The Departed IMO.

I voted for Orlando Bloom because I couldn't bother to think of someone else. If they hadn't cast him in Kingdom of Heaven, that film could have been a masterpiece for the ages.

I'll have to go with Tom Cruise, to be honest.

Guy only ever plays one part, and it's always 'Tom Cruise'.
So you would say his roles in Collateral

and Tropic Thunder are identical?

I beg to differ. The guy's a good actor, he's just often judged on the basis of his playboy image.

And to all of you who say Nicholas Cage... well yeah, he's pretty rubbish in most of his movies, but when he gets a good part, he's a really good actor. Just look at Lord of War, he's great in it.

I was at work today and this subject came up and I was quite surprised at some of my friends disagreement with my answer. Personally I think Tom Cruise is the best actor, personal life aside. Every time I see a movie with him, he is always spot on. My favorite movie by him is Top Gun, and I cannot wait for Oblivion to come out.

So I ask you friends, Who do you think is the best actor?
Are you f-ing kidding me?!??!?

Tom Cruise is #1 on my list of WORST actors.

He couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.

Every single movie he's in is just
Tom Cruise in Feudal Japan
Tom Cruise does Hollywood spy stuff
Tom Cruise dressed as a cop in the future
Tom Cruise runs from aliens
Tom Cruise flies planes

The ONLY movie where he's being something other than Tom Cruise is Tropic Thunder.

Looks like a barbarian. Takes roles as a barbarian. As with so many other actors, good within a specific range of role but not capable of expanding either due to talent or support from outside. Momoa is fairly new to the scene, perhaps in time he can get past the "me smash" thing.

OT: Haven't seen a thing I enjoyed with Ben Affleck in it. Maybe that's the fault of the roles he's chosen, but I'm catching a general vibe from him that he just sucks. Except when working with Kevin Smith. Then he sucks because he's supposed to.

Guys, Micheal Sara, there is no other possible answer, there is no worse actor. He has no acting skills, he plays himself in every single thing he does, even his interviews are the same. He has the emotional range of a fucking rock. Tyler Perry is second.

Eddie Murphy,Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler are a few that springs to mind.

Not even "decent" movies from those 3 in the past few years, which is a bit tragic really since they are supposed to be "comedy actors".:p
