I hesitate to name many actors as truly all around bad. To me, most of the bad actors out there aren't really bad, they just make very bad role choices or just don't have enough range to do more than one specific thing. Adam Sandler, for example, is a purveyor of absolute trash.. but when in good roles like his part in Reign Over Me, he proves he's actually not a bad actor at all. Or Nic Cage. He's great at playing the neurotic off kilter guy. That's what he does and he does it extremely well. He can't do anything else convincingly but give him the right role (as in The Rock, for instance) and there's no one better. Keanu Reeves is the same. Poor range but there are some roles he's just perfect for.

Shia Lebeouf, however, is just eye gouginly bad. He either, at worst, ruins movies or, at best, makes you think of 50 other actors who could have done the same role better.

I haven't seen him in a movie recently but Sam Worthington is fucking atrocious. In both Avatar and Black Ops he could not hold an american accent at all and just sounded Australian at all times. Plus he is just generally dull to watch.

And to all of you who say Nicholas Cage... well yeah, he's pretty rubbish in most of his movies, but when he gets a good part, he's a really good actor. Just look at Lord of War, he's great in it.
Nicolas Cage is brilliant in every role he's in ever and anyone who differs is an absolute... Person who is right because you are entitled to your own opinion also I am not too afraid to insult because I am scared of moderators *shifts eyes nervously*

Hmm... I wouldn't say Keeanu because A Scanner Darkly exists and it is amazing in every respect... Hmm... Megan Fox? Yes, in fact, Megan Fox. No actor or actress repulses me more. Kristen Stewart is okay sometimes, Robert Pattison could probably be good if he didn't keep being in terrible films and hell Shia LaBeuff was tolerable in that one film... So yeah, no one makes me want to hurl them into a giant blender more...

Watch "The Room". Seriously. It's the worst movie ever made. It's a staggering waste of celluloid, and that alone should give it a space in the Criterion Collection.
Did you go into "The Room" expecting it not to be a steaming pile? It works best when you watch it with others who know it so you can openly take the piss out of it. Who can forget the classic lines such as "You're tearing me apart Lisa" or "Hi doggy" and "I like to watch you" as the 20 year old child says to his parents as they are about to have sex.

Adam Sandler. Fuck that guy.

Unfunny, tedious, and frankly a con man if Jack and Jill is any indication (the movie feels less like a movie but more like a freaking commericial).
This. I mean, I guess he's not terrible at acting, but that doesn't change the fact that his presence makes everything he's in exponentially worse.

I can't say who's the worst, but i certainly know who's the best actor:
Tommy Wiseau
"I did not hit her, i did naught!"
Genius!

There are plenty of "worse" actors out there, but my vote goes to Tom Cruise, because he breaks any movie he is in.
I was so excited about there being a Jack Reacher movie, and then for some ungodly reason they gave it to Tom Cruise, and now i have no interest in it at all.

Tobey Maguire. Dude wishes he could show a realistic emotion. I think he's secretly a robot.

Owen Wilson. I cannot watch anything with him in it, the guy just annoys the crap out of me. Comes off as a massive douchebag.
Adam Sandler. Already been mentioned, but this guy is not funny and cannot act for shit. I hate everything he's in.
Tom Cruise. Also already been mentioned a lot, but fuck him. He's shit.

I also hate Mila Kunis. Don't get the hype for her, seems like a pair of tits to draw in the crowd (cheap tactic). Also, Megan Fox, same thing. Can't enjoy anything they're in.

Edit: I forgot Will Ferrel. One of the unfunniest people I've ever seen. I hate the almost-cult following he's developed.

Hmm, tough decision... by the standards you set I'm guessing we're talking about actors that are prevalent or have been prevalent in the past 3 years since that's roughly the span of "mainstream". So within that time frame, I'd have to say Adam Sandler. YES! YES! I know EVERYONE and their fucking mother have said him at this point but... HOW?! JUST HOW do you go from Waterboy, and Happy Gilmore, and Big Daddy, and even later movies like Grown Ups to fucking THAT'S MY BOY AND JACK AND JILL?!? HOW?!
Adam, for Cthulhu's sake man, just stop while you're behind; don't dig this hole you've dug any deeper than it already is. Leave the funny movies to upcoming funny actors... PLEASE!

Angelina Jolie. Yeah I said it. Boring as hell actress whom seems to only get roles because she has looks apparently. To me she comes off as smug and an attention whore. Same with Megan Fox.

Nicholas Cage has the best acting and the worst acting available. He's entertaining regardless
.
Tobey Maguire, Adam Sandler, and Will Ferrel have already been mentioned. I used to like Will Ferrel when I was younger, but everything he does is trash nowadays.

No one on the list particularly annoys me, I actually really like Clive Owen's acting. Haven't seen enough of Kostner to judge him. Tom Cruise is pretty bad, but like Owen Wilson he fits the roles he's given despite both coming off as incredibly cliche and irritating.

My addition to this thread, will be Will Smith. He had a bunch of hit or miss films until 2006, and now I can't name one good movie he's been in.

Adam Sandler is not a terrible actor, he is just a terrible comedic actor. You should watch 'Reign O ver Me', there isn't an ounce of comedic crap from him in that movie, and it is actually really good. He plays a guy who lost his family in 9/11 and has become pretty screwed in the head from it, and he plays this part well. So hate him for the movies he decides to make, not his acting talents.

Ryan Reynolds.

Seriously can't stand that douche-bag - I thought he showed some promise in Blade2(?), but then in everything I've seen him in since, he's made me cringe. In some cases (Green Lantern), he made me contemplate self harm to get out of watching the movie, in fact he made Green Lantern gay.

Most actors redeem themselves with at least 1 movie, like Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder, Matt Damon in Good Will and Bourne - I'm still waiting on Reynolds decent movie. Hell, I'd even say that Seth Rogan did a better job at being a superhero, and that's saying something.

I also hate Ben Affleck, Hugh Grant, Mark Wahlburg and Will Smith.

And Simon Pegg in all the American films he's made, so far removed from Spaced, so far up his own ass as someone already said. Spaced was my favorite TV series, Shaun of the dead was brilliant, and Hot Fuzz was really decent, but recently, bleh!.

To really work, the actor we diz should be highly regarded.

Denzel Washington has won a freaking Oscar! While I adore his movie choices and enjoy most of them greatly, he has always personally reminded me of being the male version of the Kristin Stewart of our times.

Oh, no. I knew what I was going into. What I meant was that it's bad. It's hilariously entertaining, yes - but it's awful. It's what gives the movie its peculiar charm. You ever heard the term "jolie laide" being used to refer to a person who's got odd facial features but still manages to make them work? "The Room" has all the features of a navel-gazing drama, but it turns into an awesome accidental comedy. It's a "Jolie Laide" movie.

All those lines you've quoted are pretty epic. What makes Denny even worse is the fact that he isn't Johnny and Lisa's kid. He's a neighbour, basically a college kid who happens to live nearby and that Johnny so graciously props up financially.

Either Weisseau is a massive troll, or he has absolutely no idea of how to function in society. The way the mother drops the fact that she's got breast cancer and Lisa's total lack of reaction? Wow. It's legendary.
