I am currently writing a book, it is a fantasy book in which gods play a integral role. I have created some fictional gods, most of which are scheming, backstabbing, deceiving and exploiting. The reason for this is basically that these individuals are free of all social, religious and other restrictions. So i thought to myself, would i be a "good" god? definitely not. It would probably start small, killing evil people etc. But sooner or later i would be seduced and corrupted by that power. Naturally this was a question i had to ask you escapists. However, please remember that this is a fictional book, and i have no intention of hurting any religious sensibilities.

It somehow got in the "gaming discussion" forum...

I would put evil people through torture for eternity. I suppose that would be considered 'bad'.

Depends on the kind of god you mean. Are we talking about self-sufficient omnipotence or is the godly power tied to prayers and devotion flying my way? If it's the latter it'd be hard to predict for me, but in the case of the first option I'd probably be a good god. I mean, unless you're a total bastard you do bad things if you stand to gain something from the result of your deeds, but if you're already all-powerful, untouchable and completely independent, why would you act like a douche?

I think I would be a bad god, the phraze "absolute power corrupts absolutely" I feel would likely summ it up for me.

Yes. I stepped onto a snail yesterday, at night, all alone, and I still felt really sorry for the little guy, to the point that I actually said 'sorry'. If I was your god the world would be a very peaceful place. I just can't kill things. I feel bad after killing ginormous spiders that I feared for with my life a few seconds before.

Ayaline should be our god.

OT: I would be a rather bad god, too many people asking for things annoys me. I've played Black & White.

I'd be overly harsh, kinda like Light from Death Note. Do something harmful to others on my planet, and I will kill you. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is subjective.
I would probably have the same issue, but perhaps dependant on my mood. Gods can't really be called infalliable, so I would have my temper streaks where I might be harsher sometimes than others, but I hate murder, so I would instead simply apply the wiccan three-fold law:

In basic speak, what you give is what you get. Threefold

I would live among humans, pretending to be my own herald, showing my godly powers every now and then. I'd probably have an Alt body, as well.
And I'd be chaotic neutral, so at least the people are protected, largely, from *complete* death and destruction from neglect.

I'd roam the world and stay human. Then when I get bored I'd mess with the laws of physics just to fuck with people's minds.
Oh, and make a UFO appear over the Pentagon because..well why not?

Oh. Well, I still can't accurately predict my behavior, but initially I'd at least try to be a good good. And by 'good' I mean 'just'. You know, help my people out a bit in times of great need, but also unerringly strike down folks I judge to be cruel monsters. I know the whole 'judge, jury and executioner' bit is an easy pathway to the dark side, but hey, that's how my moral compass works.

I'd try my best, but my best isn't really good enough. I couldn't handle it. I'd doubt every decision I made, and not want to do anything to change the world. I'm not into judging or condemning people; I'm not into controlling them either. I'm too emotional, and that would be kind of bad for everyone else. I have too many problems to let the whole god thing get to my head, but I still wouldn't make a very good one.

I think I'd be a "mostly good" God.

I strive to be a good person, though I do not hold myself to any religious moral authority. That being said, I've never been perfect, and occasionally lash out. God-me would doubtless be similar. Also, I'd totally mess with people from time to time. Mwahahahaha!

I think I'd be a pretty flawed God. I'd try to do good, but in the end I think I would become frustrated and do something like using my powers to make myself forget I was a God and go live as a human.

I, kind sir, would be a shit god.
Mainly because I'd spend most of my time finding people I didn't like and smiting them with a hail of walruses.
