No one would be. Even if you really try to do "good", not everyone is going to accept your definition of good and you're going to end up hurting somebody. Coupled with great power, that's a recipe for the worst tyranny. No one individual should be trusted with that kind of power.

I don't often agree with C.S. Lewis, but on this we're in accord:

C. S. Lewis said:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Unless I was given the foresight to know what repercussions my actions would have, I'd end up following that 'Road paved with good intentions' that never leads anywhere good. If I didn't go evil it'd be likely that I'm acting more as a balancer between the other 'gods', doing my best to prevent catastrophe from destroying things.

Yes. Yes I would. However, I'd be 'good' by my own form. So, unorthodox, but fundamentally good, yes. I'd be a bit of a relaxed god, making things easier for everyone.

I'd get bored of watching everyone play happy families for a week and end up making a few monsterous beasts to terrorize them every so often

I'd probably take the piss quite a bit, like waiting for Iran to develop a nuclear missile and then only once they've launched it metamorphosing it into a giant Weiner... that sort of stuff.

Well according to several fundamentalist groups, being God makes you infallible, so everything you do is good by default

If Death Note is anything to go by... Does the phrase "Power corrupts" ring a bell?

The nature of godhood itself cannot work well with a mortal's mind. A mortal cannot be impartial, a mortal is limited by its upbringing and background, a mortal is prone to make rash decisions without seeing the consequences. And if you take those limitations away, slowly but surely you reach a state of omniscience and omnipotence such that since you know everything, and can do everything, you become detached to the point of not doing anything at all.

Since you see where the pieces will fall, you are able to see not just everything that is, but everything that could be thus fading any sense of causality or even time and space.

Sort of what happened with Watchmen's Doctor Manhatthan.

I almost certainly would. I feel bad about killing spiders.
Can't say for sure if I'm removed from humanity for so long, a la Doctor Manhattan. I think I'd be nicer than most gods though...

If Black and White is anything to go by,I'd be a good god,but accidentally keep grabbing my followers and flinging them everywhere. And I'd have to install an undo button into reality.

I guess good, but I would all but be nonexistent from the view point of humans. I wouldn't want people to prey, nor answer them. I would try to allow free will in all forms, but I would make one exception. I would lightning strike or otherwise smite people who use their power/wealth/influence in a manner that causes harm to others.

I am not god so I don't know yet what would be a reasonable number... I'd want the lightning bolt to proc well before anything like Hitler could do his worse, but not on the bus driver who ate 4 pounds of chili before his shift and ruined hundreds of peoples day with his mad gas.

I'd keep the balance of power between nations from getting out of control so there isn't possibility of every living thing dying , i.e., nuclear warfare, but otherwise, I'd just screw around and let nature take its course.

The first thing I thought of when reading this topic was me going mwahahahahahaha. Although I probably would end up being a good god I'm not sure I trust myself with that kind of power. I'd probably abuse it at some point for my own entertainment.

Well, the question is largely moot, seeing as 'good' is defined by one's ethical inclinations, which are a further reflection of one's morality, which forms based on one's values. Values are established by upbringing, environment, and opportunities...

So, when one ascends to a level of power so vast that they are described as a god, one's values change in a hurry. There is no static barometer to indicate whether you're being good or bad - unless one is a vassal to an even more powerful being and must act according to its inclinations.

Any act undertaken by a being of supreme moral authority is considered to be 'good' on the basis of its own moral mandate. After all, the actions it takes are justified in being for its own prosperity, and thus, the prosperity of those underneath it.

The more layman's approach would suggest playing nice, because that's what you had to do before. No, human beings are creatures of relevance-based behavior. Once a person skyrockets into the lofty echelon of ultimate beings, there are no peers to address such a condition other than any other possible Godlikes. So, the creature is then removed from the human condition and likely ceases to care about the welfare of its former commiserates - freeing itself from the good/bad moral dilemma.

Unless, of course, the ascendant chooses to live in the narrow-minded 'do-gooder' archetype, applying its abilities to a particular social microcosm, or (if sufficiently powerful) attempting something as asinine as world peace. If the latter is the case, then people would be compelled to cease combat and reconfigure their lives against their will; an act that by rights is considered to be authoritarian and 'bad' as it suppresses human nature and confines people - despite the greater good argument it likely incites. People, after all, choose to fight and see things their own way - castrating their wills is paramount to the wounding or destruction of their being.

So, what does this mean for me?

I would abandon the matrix of my prior knowledge, become embroiled in discovering whatever mysteries are open to me, dissipate and lose my sense of place, and likely be lost forever as a data sponge between dimensions, an unmeasurable mass of knowledge devoid of sentience or purpose. Not saying I would like it - it's just likely to happen.
