I jest, but reading the recent SuicideGirls fiasco news article in the News Room, i thought about the people who did end up walking out of Comic Con with their SuicideGirls book / video / whatever and it got me thinking; i just wouldn't have the courage to buy porn! Even the softcore kind. I wouldn't be able to stand in the store with a straight face as the guy scanned my copy of Playboy or the clerk in HMV scanned my dvd box set of 'girls gone wild'. I wouldn't even be able to pay for porn online because i know it'd end up on my bank statement. People will know about it. And then someone may find out i bought porn. Friends, family, parents and so on. The reason for all that though is because i've been brought up in a very conservative household where sex and porn are one of the many great evils and regarded as taboo in the eyes of my parents, as i mentioned before. Doesn't stop me watching all the great free porn online though, hurr hurr.
My question is: Would YOU buy porn? Forgetting whether you actually would due to all the free porn out there, would you have the courage to actually buy a dirty mag / video / internet subscription? If you do currently buy porn, why? And lastly, what's the appeal of softcore porn? I never understood why someone would want to look at pics of half-naked girls when they could watch a 10 minute video of a fully naked girl elsewhere.

I'm 34, I've been in college. I've bought porn, there is nothing special about it to be honest.
As far as the appeal goes you either get it or you don't. It's never been a huge thing with me, but like everyone I've tried it especially when I was younger. Even traded stuff around with other people (movies, books, etc...).
Most of what I have left that is "porn" is all stuff with a science fiction/fantasy bent to it as part of my collection of nerd junk. I've still got some dirty anime, most of the "Bondage Fairies" comics series, and some other stuff still around, but honestly I haven't really looked at it for a while... hmmm but now that you remind me.
Oh and for the record (before I go), for those of you who are young and all nervous about buying porn, it's really only embarassing if girls you aren't "buddies" with (ie friends but not a girlfriend, which does happen) happens to find out about it. I was nervouse about it when I was younger, but there really isn't any mystique to it or anything. They produce this stuff by the megaton, and sell it off quickly. Your not doing anything special, people are professionals about it, and really it's not likely that your even going to be remembered unless your in there like every day, and even if you are that's not really a bad thing either since it's not like the clerk(s) are going to hop on the phone and call everyone you know to say you just bought a couple of XXX rated movies.
