You are talking from a purely entertainment point of view. Indeed there are disgusting and sickening things on the internet, but the beauty outweighs the bad without a doubt. Berners Lee wanted everyone on the internet to be equal and that is the case. Many have improved their standard of living(african farmers have learned modern techniques and can order bulk seeds etc, make connections with people who are willing to give them a better deal).
This probably already been mentioned, but everyone who voted no better have immediately shut down their internet and not used it again or they're a hypocrite.
Yes I would,simply to fuck with everyone else,and to keep myself from getting bored I would feed off of their anger and sadness,and relish the fact that I am become death,and that I ruined fun.but hey I'm probably only thinking like this because I haven't slept for two days.....Oh wait...Damn that would mean no more TF2....Or escapist....That of course would be a problem.Relishing pain only works for so long....My God complex isn't that worth it.

I love how all the people who are all for destroying the internet are using it to talk about how they want to destroy it. I mean just think about it, you wouldn't be able to even have this conversation were it not for the internet. The Irony makes me smile on the inside.
Yeah there are bad things on the internet, but if you try to avoid them you probably won't find them. Last case scenerio: just don't use the internet. Plus you can't just say: this thing has some flaws, I'm going to ignore all the good parts and destroy it because it isn't perfect. Life isn't perfect and there will be things you'll be exposed to that you won't like. Does that mean you should destroy life? No, you just move along and remember the good, and don't focus on the bad.

The world would be a slightly better place without the internets, in my opinion. But also, slightly worse.
The original point of the internet was to share information. It grew into something that stood for Free Speech; in some cases, to the extreme. While I dont want to turn this into a political debate (and I wont), I do believe that there CAN be TOO much Freedom of Speech in some cases (Most of us can think of one extreme case) [Note: If you disagree, thats fine. But I really dont care. Dont make this into a political debate]. So, in that respect, I would shut down parts of the internet.
Overall, I think the good of the internet weights down the bad. And the ability for personal, annoynmous expression is a GREAT thing.

Basing a decision on whether to destroy the Internet on the sort of thing even most consumers of Japanese cartoon porn would find disgusting and esoteric is like deciding whether to destroy American cinema because of the works of Michael Bay: If you only look at the stuff that is not only at the bottom of the proverbial barrel but oozed through it and needs to be mopped up before it stains the proverbial linoleum, you're not going to get a flattering impression of the medium.

is it even possible to destroy the internet? i mean it was originally designed not to be easily destroyed and now looking at the size of it i don't think it can be destroyed crippled yes out right gone i doubt it
and back on topic think of all the harm that would be done if the net did go down it would be a disaster nearly every business would be disrupted by the lack of communication governments may not crumble but would be severely damaged and then you have the people who will be going out and looting all to stop shock sites and some things that can be easily avoided
