basically, if all we're talking about is the ruling class and our current government structure, no i will not die for that. if it's a whole hitler/jihad situation then, i would die for my people, not my country. i may help save the country in the process, but it will not be 'for' it.

Well that depends. Is it worth dying for at the time? Is it a shining beacon of hope with rainbows, pink ponies and kittens or at least salvageable? Or is it a slothful, corrupt blob of a waste of resources? Do I have much to live for at the time? If I have a family and they're not put in danger then the answer is "hell no." If I have a family and they are in danger then "hell yes." I'm kind of a run away to fight another day guy so if I deemed I was likely to die I'd prefer to back off and reconsider the situation for a better outcome. Also I don't enjoy killing people. I want to keep my sterling record of 0 asses kicked.
