You see, I have a bit of a problem with this part of your premise. If I buy a dedicated gaming PC that is disconnected from the Internet and has no wireless capabilities, how is anyone going to be able to detect that I'm playing video games? Frankly, if the man has hidden cameras installed all over my house, or if it's acceptable for police officers to conduct rigorous searches of my house and property every so often, I think I'd be too busy participating in the underground resistance to overthrow the oppressive regime to play video games.StBishop said:

Nah, I'd stay and help form a ring of underground gaming rings where instead of races or fights we just play video games. Smuggling games and consoles under the noses of the fuzz, hiding our junk when they come around investigatin'. I tell ya man, it'd be like living in Prohibition all over again. Except I guess the mafia of this new era would be alot nerdier than Al Capone and the rest of the gang
Defect is absolutely the wrong word, unless you think the banning of interactive entertainment is a good enough motivation to flee ones country and seek asylum elsewhere. I might move, though, if banning entire mediums of expression became common practice.
I'd build a big bunker for people who want to play games and make it look like a crack den of course to be safe and I'd get people to smuggle games in from different countries and because the government are probably monitoring online gaming you would need to have LAN parties, And when the cops come round I'll just say a bunch of drugie's getting high at the same time (cause if a government gets that stupid they probably have legalised all Hard drugs).

To me, this is stupid. If my country banned video games, to me it would seem that in this hypothetical it would be logical to assume that such a ban would be endemic of a loss of personal freedom completely. If my government decided to repress me in any such way, related to video games or not, I'd probably try and stay awhile to fight the changes. But after some time, when the fight seemed hopeless, I would entertain the possibility of leaving, sure.
I'd move, but not solely for the games, its that if a society ever got that far gone, its probably not the only thing that they are gonna take away.

I'd either fire bomb the Scottish parliament as it's about 30 minutes drive from here or do what that crazy Englishman did and buy an old sea defence post and declare independence (Principality of Sealand [http://www.sealandgov.org/index.html])
