Why not? Worst case scenario is that you don't get to go wherever the light goes. So it comes down to an eternity of nothing in a room or an eternity of falling and possibly at least getting a change of scenery? May as well go skydiving forever.
Yup. Don't really see an alternative; staying in that room would result in permanent madness after a while, so I'll take my chances with the well.
Permanent madness... or an eternal orgy!
Not really mutually exclusive, but... nah, I'll take my chances of participating in an eternal orgy someplace nicer than a drab concrete room.

So is it limbo/purgatory to not jump into it and just hang about in the room. Also why happen if you miss your shot at the well?
Oh I voted not jumping into it, I rather take my endless day in the room.

Could I find a toga person who's decent to talk too, and jump with them? That way, if I don't make it, I'd have someone to talk too.

Unless they make it and I don't...

Better to have a few people, then. Just in case.

This is really hard!

But I think I would do what many others have said, jump with a bunch of other people so that I would have someone to talk to while I'm falling.

My question is: Would more people ever enter the room? If so, I might well just stay in the room, and keep meeting new people every day. It might be interesting, and those of us who stay in the room could start our own mini society, have children, and live our lives in that room. I'm reading too far into this :p

I would stay, being alone free falling (yes, I am that evil) is surely the worst scenario. If the room will drive me mad, well I guess thats as if myself sort of ceased to be and there would be a diferent me whom I have nothing to do with and dont care what his decision would be afterwards.

It seems some people here are missing a key detail. There IS a difference between the infinity in the room and the infinity in the well. One has people you can get to know and talk with. The other is essentially an endless loneliness. I don't care how antisocial you are; you'd eventually long for human contact.

I do like this question though. It's indeed thought provoking. If you believe you are good, then the question is easy, but if you have doubts, it becomes much more difficult.

We all would have to jump in there sometime.
Anyway I voted no.
Disappearing in blue light sounds pretty interesting. As teleportation has not jet been proved by science, I would spend ages to figure out everything there is to be known.

If there are people in there it means that they have gotten there somehow. This doesn't mean that there are way back, but there could be more people incoming. As I imagine this "room" not very big (around 5-10 meters squared) we would eventually run out of space. Or oxygen (suggesting that we would still need to breathe and/or eat).
There would be many things to explore. Starting by how deep the rabbit hole goes (as we can tie those tongs to form a rope to climb down the well) till the mastery of quantum physics. Every chemical element have it's half-life. It decays. Rots. Turns into something different.
Also I would ask fellow tong-lads how long have they been there so I could analyze that room even more. "Time doesn't exist there" you say? Time is abstract dimension. It is interval between two actions, so you can measure time by, let's say, by dropping down the well something and seeing how long it takes to drop 1 tong height. It would be called tongime (tong + time? Anyone?). From there we could re-define the whole physics. And that would be AWESOME!

Anyway, those tong guys might have interesting stories to share. Who they were, the last thing they remember before getting here and what is that well anyway.

But as I told you, we all would have to jump down eventually.
(Seeing the reference to life - we all have to die eventually and everything will come to and end eventually. There is no reverse entropy possible)

probably chill out for awhile and talk to the people there. Then when I can't take it, take the plunge.

Also pretty sure I'll be saved so that's good too.

How bad a person must you be to be damned to fall down a well forever?

I'd jump.

Well if you have infinite time and no change other than that choice, it seems obvious to me that you must jump at some point.
