OT: Sure, as long as it was a perfect facsimile and possessed free will. The choice to love me back, or not.
It would be human, essentially. I think the line is drawn at the psyche, not the body.
lol I think that's where I got one of my options for the threadWrcklessIntent said:This is my answer sir if i can that is...
There was an entire Futurama episode like that.AloriD said:If there were robots capable of human emotions, I think that the human species would die out. Robots would be almost superior than us, and if humans DID date robots, how would we reproduce?

Wait.. I got that quote horribly, horribly wrong..
Interesting points. But Mass Effect does well with alien romance. Robot romance? No.Therumancer said:Quite possibly, it's not a major fetish or anything, but I've been reading about stuff like that in Issac Asimov novels since I was a kid. People falling in love with (and invariably having sex with) things like robots, aliens, etc... are all classic science fiction concepts and I have no problem with envisioning it or thinking it could potentially happen to me.
I think the problem with the idea on the internet is people get ridiculously wierd about it, like getting to the point where they only way they can become aroused or enjoy porn or whatever is if it involves a furry, or an alien, or a robot or whatever. Despite how it might sound, I'm fairly tolerant of such things, and can enjoy some of the artwork as intended, but I can't see how people can form an actual sexual identity around something that doesn't exist.
On a final note, while I have watched quite a bit of Anime (and been a much bigger fan in the past than I currently am for some reason), I think the subject matter has been handled best in books. I just haven't seen much visual media like games, movies, anime, or comics that have ever done it well. Aside from Asimov and some of his stuff, I think perhaps the best "Robot Romance" was probably the one with Sheen (which actually starts with sex and then develops from there) from Piers Anthony's "Adept" series.
Works for me!FargoDog said:'If it bleeds, you can fuck it.'hyperhammy said:Can I fuck it? Sex is an important part in a relationship.

I'm sorry, I don't watch Adult Swim. I think it's rather stupid.zombiejoe said:There was an entire Futurama episode like that.AloriD said:If there were robots capable of human emotions, I think that the human species would die out. Futurama went off of adult swim a loooooonnngggg time ago.AloriD said:I'm sorry, I don't watch Adult Swim. The only thing it's good for is Robot Unicorn Attack.
My mistake, was poorly written. I meant robots in visual media, not aliens which has been done pretty well in numerous places (including Star Trek).zombiejoe said:Interesting points. lol there are no sex robots in mass effect.
Like I said, I don't watch Adult Swim. It's also because Futurama scared me. The first and only episode I watched and they're were people having sex in it. That's traumatizing to an nine-year-old.zombiejoe said:Futurama went off of adult swim a loooooonnngggg time ago.AloriD said:I'm sorry, I don't watch Adult Swim. lol, yes Robot Unicorn Attack is epic.

I am aware of some of the plotlines involving characters like Data (also from Star Trek) but I never thought it was done especially well, especially seeing as while the character was interesting to me as a jaded science fiction nerd (when when I was a kid and "Next Generation" had launched) I thought the whole "Robot who wants to be human" thing was a bit over done. "Armitage III" made a noble attempt (anime) but seemed to be missing something .
That's just my opinion though.
O____O They woudn't really show that in detail...right?AloriD said:Like I said, I don't watch Adult Swim. It's also because Futurama scared me.
