There are some movies that you can only experience on the big screen....

Sure it's a waste of time seeing a heavy drama, but I love me some explosions on the big screen

The people are just a small annoyance, and despite the fact that the annoying ones can be really... well, annoying, I would most certainly miss the cinema.

You can have a giant TV, you can have a kickass speaker system, you can have movie style popcorn (or maybe you can't as I've never gotten that movie style taste anywhere but the theater.) but you can't match the experience one has in going to the movies.

There's just something magical about it.

Even though I haven't been to one in ages because most films are not worth it, I would miss out on the chance to see great movies (when they come) on an epic scale.

I still remember seeing all 3 LOTR movies and they were just made to see as big and loud as possible.

I wouldn't miss it one bit. In fact I think I actually long for the days when the movie industry has to cut back its scope.

It's not going to go away entirely. It will have a different focus, maybe appeal to niche markets, the grindhouse circuit, underground movies, and uniquely tailored experiences. Rocky Horror is not the same viewing it from your home.

Just like everything else, Cinema is proudly dying since ____.

Not really, no. I don't really watch very many movies, and if I'm going to all the TVs in the house are fairly big anyway.

Not really. I'd say on average for the past decade or so, only 1 movie a year comes out that I consider worth seeing and even then, I rarely go to the movies. It wouldn't bother me much.

No cos I never go to them and watch everything on DVD but i'm guessing films make about 80% of their profit from the cinema and the industry would be dead in dune buggy if they all closed.

I don't typically like going to the movies (What we Americans call the Cinema) but movies mean box office and a big box office means more money going to the studios and that means more movies. Which means more crappy formula movies,

Maybe the death of theaters would be a good thing because it would mean less crappy formula "Blockbusters" and more good movies that are more likely to win awards and stuff.

I'd prefer the death of marketing

I think the last time I personally paid to get into a cinema was a couple of years ago. It's too expensive & a superior experience can be had at home.

Also, of all the anti-piracy ads, this one is probably my favourite.

Hell yes I'd miss cinemas. There's a certain feel to going with friends or with my girlfriend that can't be beaten.

Yes. Going to a movie with friends is just a fun way to spend a night out. Some movies are just better on the big screen too.

I would, you just can't beat watching a damn good movie on a huge screen with a good crowd. Hell, a good crowd can make a good movie even better. I had two great one's when I saw two movies on a trip, heck, we even clapped at the end of one of them and I don't remember the last time that's ever happened with me.

Long story short, I would miss cinemas and the chance to go out and have some fun at them. :D

No. I haven't been to a cinema since 300. Not sure which year that was, but it's been a while.

I wouldn't miss it, prices are just stupid nowadays for a movie ticket. I went to go see the Avengers at like 11am on a Monday and it was $11 (3D) for the matinee.
Plus, my local theaters have begun to get run down over the years. The theater like 5 minutes from my house was open before I was born and I'm 25 and they really haven't done shit to update the place. Everything is so run down, their screens are grainy, seats are worse than those you would find in a junk yard, and they still have the gall to charge $10 for a 2D movie.
The closest theater is like a 45min-hour drive.
The price plus the trip just doesn't seem worth it anymore.

I was going to say I'd miss it, but the more and more I think about it the less caring I'd be if they all were shut down. The lines, the crowds, the idiots shouting and dancing around while everyone's trying to watch the movie they spent a ton of money on are problems you don't have to deal with at home. Redbox and Netflix has become my best friends for movie-going and getting rid of the theaters would only get newer releases to them faster.

Definitely. Watching a film on the more big screen with a bunch of mates is an experience I love.
