Better comparison would have probably been North Korea or Somalia...
Fuck I typed a long thing and the internet went out. Well here's a shorter version. Uganda's more population dense and it seems like there's more slavery there. I'd rather be a pirate than a slave.

North Korea is Best Korea!

Anyway, N.Korea. Equal Hellholes, but at least in Best Korea I'd be brainwashed into liking it.

Hopefully.

Though, if I had the choice to be one of the corrupt profiteers of either regime, I'd go Uganda. In N.Korea I'd still be living in a subordinate hell.

I wanna say uganda. in NK, there's no chance of escape. any thought of escape would lead to a run in with the thought police, or just other people (like in 1984). in uganda, i can at least fight my way out. this is what i don't get; all those kids Kony has rounded up have guns right? why can't they band together and turn on the bastard and his cohorts? a bullet is a bullet and Kony isn't god, just kill the bastard and run, no one's gonna find him out in the jungle.

i guess i'm visualizing uganda too must like the wild west where the man with the quickest hand and bigger gun rule, but isn't it like that? that's how warlords get their power, and thats how bandits in the wild west operated. i'd definitely take my chances somewhere where i at least had a fighting chance. besides, you know i'd try to save those kids.
The kind of mental conditionin child soldiers go through generally leaves them horribly scarred for life and completely dependent on whatever warlord has control over them.

North Korea unquestionably has a better standard of living. I'd say there's almost no comparison.

North Korea. Definitly north korea. All you have to do is kiss up to the great leader and you'll be fine.
I guess you guys arn't aware that a gigantic portion of N.Korea have been starving to death for decades. Pretty much everyone in the countryside. Only those in the capital or other major cities can be considered "somewhat" safe and even then theres no guarantee. There are even stories of people that are so hungry they actually dig up graves...and I don't think I need to explain the rest.

Most of what could be farmland are used to grow opium for export. Africa is no picnic either so either way you're pretty fucked. You'd think that N.Korea might be better but they will throw citizens into the forced labour camps for almost no reason. If a relative is caught trying to escape they don't just kill that one person, they murder the entire family line as punishment.

All the same, I guess I'd choose Korea. Simply because I can't stand African levels of heat. I'd go stir crazy in those huts. Plus in N.Korea there is a huge "school" filled with thousands of young girls who are trained for years to learn how to pleasure the Great Leader and his high ranking fellows (I believe they are called the "satisfation squad" or "pleasure brigage"). Maybe if I play my cards right I can get a crack at them.

Uganda. This is an obvious question, surely?

Don't kid yourselves, N.Korea undoubtedly has a fucktonne of domestic issues. The only reason you aren't hearing the same about them as you do with Uganda is the complete media blackout in the country.

(Coltan's more of a Congo thing. It makes up less than 1% of Uganda's exports, compared to farming, which makes up well over half, about half of this being Coffee. The more you know!)

Still, it shouldn't happen significantly more than average. It's not like gay people flock to Uganda, so at best the Ugandan military should have an average amount of homosexual rape compared to similar nations.
Doesn't work like that. In situations like this, or prison, the perpetrators of male on male rape often do not consider themselves to be homosexual. Rape is, after all, driven by aggression and the wish to exercise power over others as much as it is by actual sexual desire, perhaps more so.

OT: I'd still rather live in Uganda. Uganda is a mess but North Korea is a country sized prison camp, and whatever we hear of the place I suspect the reality is even worse. There's been credible accounts of cannibalism as recently as the 90s , brought on by famine, to give one example.

I'd choose Uganda. At least I know what I'd be facing.

Theres a hell of a lot we dont know about North Korea but leaks have suggested famine, cannibalism, widespread torture, executions, human experimentation. Oh and slavery.

If this is what we know, what are they still hiding? I'll take my chances in Uganda thanks.

Uganda. At least there, if I kill myself, I could do it without fear of my family being sent to death camps. Living in DPRK would be double-plus ungood.

If you have citizenship of a post-soviet country, then NK will give you a warm bed and a lot food to eat. Claiming it's a "typical" meal for someone in NK.

I'm not joking. Tourism is a real thing there. I could stowaway on a ferry or plane to China or South Korea.

On the bright side they have some very pretty scenery.

Interesting choice of words since there is photographic evidence of US soldiers doing just that among other things. Saw it once in a documentary about N.Korea's accusation of war crimes done by UN, but mostly US soldiers. (Of course, you cant sue USA for war crimes, they are exempted in UN agreement. I'm not kidding)

North Korea. At least you can be honest person there and live like the others. (I see honesty means nothing to anyone here) Also people are friendly bunch which is more important then all the money in the world.
To those who are unfamiliar on North Korea. Please, please learn about it. I have problems with the U.S, but you have to seriously delusional to think that North Korea is any good.

Edit: Come on Uganda isn't that bad, try the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now that's bad.

Yeah, the military over there has been accused of raping it's members. Its kinda common.

[small]...Awkward[/small]
Raping its own members?! Wtf? I thought it was all about raping random civilians! And isn't Uganda one of those nations that heavily looks down on homosexuality (I'm a guy)?
In any culture that looks down on homosexual sex, it will happen. Which is why the catholic church had that massive scandal, or most armies that don't like gay people, have a long history of gay members.

They just hide it.
Still, it shouldn't happen significantly more than average. It's not like gay people flock to Uganda, so at best the Ugandan military should have an average amount of homosexual rape compared to similar nations.

Oh well, I get a gun and a uniform, plus my higher level of education might make it easier for me to become an officer. I assume officers are probably safer from rape...
Aye, you just have to hope they'll accept a white foreign guy to lead them.

So the choice is pretty much between starving or getting shot? I guess i'll go with getting shot. At least it doesn't drag out as long.
