It's a simple question. Try to, for a second, imagine Star Wars Episode III (I know, I know, I'm sorry guys). Anakin's choice. To turn to the Dark Side, to go against everything he's said and done for twenty years of his life, to save Padme.

Think of yourself in that type of situation (but please, less angst). Were you on the Light Side of the Force, and as devoted as he originally was to eradicating the Dark Side, would you go back on everything you'd said and done in your life to save the one you loved the most?

Would you turn your back on friends and family, to save that special someone?

If you hate Star Wars, go die in a hole then apply it to real life, without the Force. Would you go back on everything you've said/done to save the one you loved? Could you go against your values like that?

(Note: This question doesn't apply to Dark Siders, they already do what they want for passion and emotions anyway.)

So, would you, or wouldn't you? And what reason do you have?

As for me, I would. For a number of reasons.

1. She's worth it.
2. Cool Force Powers.
3. Dark Siders can do what they want, Light Siders follow stricter rules.

It didn't exactly... work out for Anakin.

So, no I wouldn't.

Light Side all the way
I would not betray. Losing the one I Love would give me even more motivation to destroy the evil ones.

A smaller, sub-question for this topic:

Do you think losing the one you love would make you that little bit less Light Side, even for a little bit? Like you'd care about stuff less, and care less how your actions would affect people?

No, I'd stay on the light side. To grow we have to learn that loved ones will be lost, but that they will always be remembered and mean something to us. I'd rather stay in the light with the rest of the people I care about than throw it all away for one single person.

I would. If you're really in love with this person you'd do anything for them. And turning to the Dark Side doesn't have to mean you're pure evil, it just means you have more freedom to use the force however you wish.

He had no fucking reason to turn to the darkside. He wanted to be able to live forever with Padme. He gave into Greed, and in the end that's what killed her. Same thing happened with the golden goose. Now, if it was literally "Turn to the Dark Side or your lover dies", I would be happy to convert. I've already become void of empathy.

Personally I am neither light nor dark side, the closest to me is what's referred to as a grey Jedi, think jolee bindo.

I do what i want when i want how i want, i am not exclusive to the philosophies of either because both get it wrong.

I would turn to the dark side based on the principle that the current government system is an absolute joke. Seriously take a minute and think about it, you have a government based on what seems to be hundreds if not thousands of planets, yet we see no real army or force to enact the laws of this government. This is where the biggest problem pops up, someone comes along with any sized army and just wreaks havoc, like the Trade Federation. And the government is 1) Unable to stop them and 2) Completely ineffectual in even investigating the mater. Seriously they send two jedi to look into the matter, and even the trade federation knows that the current government is such bs that they would kill the jedi and be like what jedi? we didn't see any jedi. And even when the Jedi get back and report on the whole damn matter you'd think the government would be like uhh trade federation you tried to kill our investigators and you're actually doing acts of aggression, we're going to have to put a stop to you. But no, they have to investigate the matter further.
Hell we've seen cloud city under the Imperial empire, it doesn't seem like people are suffering, it seems to be that the Empire is actually working as well or even better than the previous gov't. Sure there is a power hungry dictator at the helm who sprouts anti rebel propaganda, but they actually did some good. Technology (at least in the books) went pretty damn far, people are still prospering, there is an actual enforcement of law. I mean yea sure a dictator is at the helm but he is just power hungry, it isn't like he is taxing the people into starvation or performing acts of genocide (lets ignore that one planet going boom).

If the people we love are taken from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn; people die, but real love is forever.

Im more of a neutral I don´t go back on my values. And as far as the Jedi order has the same Ideals and values as me then I won´t leave.

The powers them selves is not dark or light it´s just how you use them :)

I'd like to think I'd know better than to think that the creepy guy telling me I can TOTALLY bring her back to life or "prevent her from dying" was probably lying to get me to betray people. I mean, it was totally fucking obvious. Anakin was a bit of an emo freak and he fit right in with the sith, so no, not joining them.

I wouldn't as then I'd have to do absolutely dickish things like kill jedi children and support an oppressive regime, from my moral point of view I would have to sacrifice my loved one in exchange for being able to fight for what's right.

If they really loved me, they wouldn't expect me to essentially destroy myself and everything good in my life to delay their inevitable demise.

That, and Jesus Christ the Dark Side needs some skin cream.
