Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

I find far more akin to my beliefs in this code than in that of the Jedi. I will not subvert my individuality for their order and so I would be Sith from the start.

I'd have turned. Not for her, but because it looked at that time as though the Sith were going to win the war. I align with whoever's gonna win :p
Not exactly, if Anakin hadn't turned to the Dark Side, Mace Windu would have killed the Emperor and the Sith would be no more. So the power was all in Anakins hands really.

I wouldn't have turned. No matter how much you love someone, there are bigger and more important things in the world than yourself and your own life. Being a Jedi is thinking about the world and not yourself. Anakin could never do this, but I'd like to think I could :p

Yeah but I can't bring myself to invest to much thought and angst into this question so the reason would be because Dark Force looks cool. And you get to wear black.

Considering in real life I am a boy scout and have been called 'annoyingly tight with the damn rules' I'm going to say I could resist dark-sidedness. Nor would it appeal to me forcing others is never as effective as leading by example.

Already on the dark side. Besides, defecting because you think it will somehow save a loved one is a mistake anyway. At best, it, against all logic, works, and they hate you for betraying them and everyone else (possibly coming back to take revenge, forcing you to kill them), or worst case scenario it doesn't work and they die hating you for betraying them and everyone else.

I'm sure that if I turned to the dark side, assuming I'm in such a powerful position as Anakin, I would do so not only for the benefit of myself and my proverbial Padme, but I would also do it to work out a co-beneficial partnership with the light side. Think about it, I could save Padma's life, and in order to keep on good terms with my buddies on the Light side, I'd teach them free lightning powers...we'd be able to develop...purple lightsabers too. Red and blue...it'd work right? Peace in the galaxy at last?

right?

Why does the Star Wars universe fall into these tropes of Severe Good or Severe Evil? Is there some middle option where you can keep your Jedi powers but not have to be a Warrior-Priest Jedi or a psychotic Mercenary Sith? Is there such thing as the Gray Side?

I would give a lot to be with the girl that I'm in love with right now, since she's too amazing for me to ignore, but I'm pretty sure that becoming recklessly Evil would not help stabilize our relationship.

Seriously, can i haz Gray Side?

Why isn't there a choice for neutral?
I was gonna include it, but stopped. Think, how many people would simply choose "Eh, middle ground for me."? So I decided to make it a situation with more extreme sides of it.

Yep. Family comes first. That said, I severely doubt I'll turn into a homicidal maniac. The movies always made it seem as an either/or issue. Either you're a peace loving Jedi or a complete sociopathic Sith. Never any middle ground, really.

for me, i probably would. There are some things i would always keep with me. I see a kitten, i pet it, etc. But mostly, i would. I know a lot of people who would and do also.

For example, anyone who is against public healthcare but uses Medicare, which is a smaller scale PUBLIC HEALTHCARE FUND for the elderly who need medication.

I also have relatives that would never do this. I have a republican cousin who tells me "i wish with all my heart that your mother had insurance" while advocating against public healthcare. Keep in mind that she's known my mother her whole life. My mom was always there for her when she needed her. Also keep in mind my mother has one autistic child and one 14 year old, and probably less than 4 years left to live without proper medical care for her blood pressure and rheumatic knee.

Wow, that was longer than i wanted it to be. No wonder i'm dead inside.

I would turn to the dark side based on the principle that the current government system is an absolute joke. Seriously take a minute and think about it, you have a government based on what seems to be hundreds if not thousands of planets, yet we see no real army or force to enact the laws of this government. This is where the biggest problem pops up, someone comes along with any sized army and just wreaks havoc, like the Trade Federation. And the government is 1) Unable to stop them and 2) Completely ineffectual in even investigating the mater. Seriously they send two jedi to look into the matter, and even the trade federation knows that the current government is such bs that they would kill the jedi and be like what jedi? we didn't see any jedi. And even when the Jedi get back and report on the whole damn matter you'd think the government would be like uhh trade federation you tried to kill our investigators and you're actually doing acts of aggression, we're going to have to put a stop to you. But no, they have to investigate the matter further.
Hell we've seen cloud city under the Imperial empire, it doesn't seem like people are suffering, it seems to be that the Empire is actually working as well or even better than the previous gov't. Sure there is a power hungry dictator at the helm who sprouts anti rebel propaganda, but they actually did some good. Technology (at least in the books) went pretty damn far, people are still prospering, there is an actual enforcement of law. I mean yea sure a dictator is at the helm but he is just power hungry, it isn't like he is taxing the people into starvation or performing acts of genocide (lets ignore that one planet going boom).
plus dictators arent bad at all, they are the more functional type of government....exept most of em are loonies, leaces, thieves and cuthroughts. if you get a good one though, prepare for an age of everything actualy working like it should XD
it worked for a thousand years so i guess you could relate it to the roman empire who got conquered by a bunch of barbarians
well, they actualy more or less ran out of a workable fuelsource to run said armies on
or to put a realy complicated story into a simple one : roman empire upkeep 200 roman epire production 100, need aditional pilons, you require aditional vespene gas ( trees, yes the wooden things )
