I can see why you might be ethically against porn but why self pleasure? Not everyone has someone there to do it for them and it certainly caries less risk of infection.

After thinking about it for a minute I don't think so, for one technicality. If we can advance technology to the point of being able to create a real holodeck, then I'd think the use some sort of of sex bots or subconsious VR can fill the need just as effectively without eating up your extremely valuable holodeck time. Let's face it, a holodeck would be ridiculously expensive, and if it's a shared one like on a starship your time will be strictly rationed. Not that sex wouldn't be a good use for it but by then there should be far easier and cheaper ways to get it done. Using a holodeck for sex would be like a 4-figure ($$$) hooker.

Yes, I would do that if I had the opportunity. But it wouldn't replace an actual person. It would be more like actual porn: for when you're lonesome. At least that's what it's for for me. Besides, who's to say you can't take your partner in there too? Sounds like fun times to me.

But I know I'd use it for plenty more than just sexual stuff. For example I think a holodeck would be an awesome tool for chatting with people online, instead of something like Skype.

Personally I would be really tempted to re-create all the past girlfriends, hotties I had a crush on back in the day, and hot co-workers and have gratuitous sex with them all day and night. Hmmm probably never get any work done...evil technology.

OT: I'd use it for sex with fictional characters. Anyone I wanted, from video games, anime, or a novel, I could have. The novels might require a little creativity (since I wouldn't have any visual source) but that would be half the fun.

My circle of friends is made up of mostly girls, and I've subconsciously adopted the idea that self-pleasure is a stupid thing. As for me being against porn, it has to do with me being erotophobic, which is also another reason for me being against self-pleasure. My views have no religious base, due to me being an atheist.
