Having run WoW for a damn long time now I think Blizzard should probably face the fact that there are some things it does well, very well in fact, but a lot which is just lame and awful.
The game is THE great success story of MMORPGs, but there were mistakes made and so much potential simply never realized.
The biggest mistake was the fact that the game was never designed for balanced PvP, and had PvP cobbled together as an afterthought and tacked on, then furiously whined about by players on forums until all real objectivity was lost.
Next the in-game physics is just plain insulting to the intelligence. What sort of environment has you get the meat out of a creature THEN skin it ? And for the sake of your life kids, if you ever see a trail of bubbles underwater DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BREATHE IT IN BECAUSE YOU WILL DIE ! Real life bubble trails are normally dangerous gasses. Then there is the ridiculous equipment system, at one stage I had a character carrying 20 rotting bear carcasses, now apart from the fact that is disgusting, it's also physically impossible. It would also be nice if creatures dropped things they would actually carry i.e. if you kill a guard he has a weapon, armor, and so forth, while a wolf might have fur and some teeth, but not a "mace of the owl" hidden up it's rectum.
EDIT: nvm i know what you mean about the bear carcasses...ignore that comment XD
ooo and the social aspect of the game i find is quite all right =) just gotta find the right places...BARRENS CHAT FTW!!!!!
Of course the real problem with WoW has to be the social aspect. Gamers may be 20% smarter on average according to the military, but WoW makes them degenerate to some sort of lowest common denominator of Chuck Norris with acne doing his mom. If this is gaming "culture" I can't imagine what the ugly side of the hobby is.
