Main reason I quit WoW was because they kept making it easier and easier for people to level up a character without actually learning how to either play the game or play thier character. This is just another example of my gripe.
but it does also make it a bit redundant for anyone whos already leveled a charecter and i think this was their excuse for pleasing the more hardcore fans without upsetting the newbs who would scream omg thats gay.

absolutely no prestige in mounts anymore
Only 237 guilds worldwide have completed the Heroic: Glory of the Ulduar Raider achievement and acquired the Ironbound Protodrake from it.

Assuming 25 people+10 extra for turnover purposes, that's 35x237=8295

8295 out of eleven million players.

I'd say that's pretty prestigious, but maybe that's just me.

Dropping the regular mount to 30, fine, dropping it down to 20/40, that's just handing people something that was earned by alot of the players as a status symbol.

Eh, doesn't matter, my account runs out in 2 days....too newb friendly now-a-days.

and how many new players know how prestigous it is? almost none. and beating uldaur on heroic isnt much of an accomplishment either considering my realm did it quite fast. and it somehow amazes me where people get those numbers regardless is there some loser or a bunch of losers visitng each realm in each country sitting there for hours on end to see who comes out of uldaur with the epic flyer and an achievment? i mean really.

i do not see it being very prestigous to have the "special mounts" its just kind of saddening that the people who didnt work for it as hard. what i really wouldve liked to see is let people who already have a lvl 60 have the mounts at earlier levels then it would still be something of prestige but now theres level 20's running around with mounts and to me it seems like theyre just too common now. and it was just kinda nice to feel important i have a white hawkstrider as an ally and yeah i like it and its special but its not the same feeling and i havent been asked where/when you get a mount for such a long time :p though i rarely when in lowbie zones get asked where i got a hawkstrider as an alliance RARELY.

Uh, there's a difference between Heroic: Glory of the Uldaur raider and completing the Descent of Madness. A huge difference in fact.

Shall we move onto Alone in the Darkness (Heroic) then perhaps? This drops Mimiron's Head, another epic flying mount. 22 Raiding guilds have killed that, even assuming that they've killed it more than once, you're still only looking at a maximum of 35 of so of these mounts worldwide.

How many new players knew how prestigious an epic mount 'was'? When I was new I didn't know.

As for how they get the numbers, it's called data farming/submission. With the advent of the achievement system before WotLK's release it's become far easier to track which guilds have killed what. Seriously, who's actually stupid enough to think someone sits outside instances watching people's mounts?

Oh, right.

You.

Nevermind then.

its just kind of saddening that the people who didnt work for it as hard.
I lol'd. I'd ask if you read the STARS tactics for how they got the world first Alone in the Darkness (Heroic) kill but I know it'd be lost on you.

"Didn't work as hard." Oh man, you crack me up.

ok you dont have to be an absolute ass i wasnt argueing i was just providing a point. and the "theory" i had was a joke if you know what those are you know when people are supposed to laugh... it seems ridicoulous that people simply take their word for it write it down and add it to a site i dont know who would go to the trouble and how do they KNOW its not someone lieing? and again its just not as prestigous or exotic as an actaul mount did you play back in classic? were you level 60 back in classic? if so you probably remember people asking you where you got your epic mount and admiring you asking you for help just making you feel good because you had one but now everyone has one and it just makes you too normal. and as someone recently said it seems like they are just tossing the mounts at you and its not much work involved. its the sortve stuff that makes me want to run a classic private server before all the new bells and whistles of lich king came in.

Actually no, people very rarely asked me where I got my epic mount from, about as rarely as they ask where I got my Rivendare's Deathcharger from today.

i was just providing a point.
I was discounting it backed up with evidence to the contrary.

it seems ridicoulous that people simply take their word for it write it down and add it to a site i dont know who would go to the time.
English grammar is crying at this sentence. I honestly have no goddamn idea what you're saying here.

This --->,<--- is a comma. Please start using it.

did you play back in classic?
Yes, level 60 night elf rogue, though she's level 70 and retired now. I had a dark epic nightsaber mount. I did countless UBRS runs but neither Dal'Rend sword nor my shadowcraft chest dropped. My guild was absolutely terrible and would wipe on the Panther boss in Zul'Gurub.

'Fun' times. I did so love having to put up with idiots.

It was the rep gain that held me back (unless they changed it so you don't need Exalted any more; I think I'm at Revered). Hmm...well, I'm not terribly fond of PvP, but if it's faster, I should give it a shot. What badges are you talking about?
I believe it's 30 AB badges, 30 WSG badges and 30 AV badges for the black warhorse.

I fully support the change, at least as much as I can when I don't actually play the game. A few months back, I was invited to play the game with friends, and while I have been duped into playing wow on a number of occasions It never really stuck. Somehow, this time around the moons aligned and somehow I actually managed to enjoy myself just enough that I was able to grind my way through as a rogue and finally got to the end game content where everyone else was.

Now, an interesting thing to point out is, according to my in game stat tracking things it took me 8 days played over the course of months to get to the end of the game. For the vast majority of that time I was playing this single player by myself - something that strikes me as more than a little silly. For a player in such a position, that entire run from 1 - 58 is such a terrible grind that you have to do more or less ALONE that anything that can be done to reduce the amount of time one spends doing it is fine with me. Mounts are no more a status symbol than having a purple piece of gear on your level 80 is. Even I have a few pieces and I literally only ran two instances in the end game before the very group of people who begged and pleaded for me to play quit the game - which was a shame because I was actually still enjoying myself more than I think was right. I'd probably still play if I had the incentive of friends playing the game, but as it stands I started playing LOTRO to fill my MMO habit and I suppose that's enough.
