Follower from Day One. I never thought of them as serious reviews, more of a satirical approach to mainstream gaming - and it's fine like that. I still eagerly await every new episode and come back to the Escapist knowing I'll be entertained for a good 5 minutes.

Best. Reviewer. Ever.

Watched him, as above, from near the beginning "Looking for a Bioshock review" as I'll put it.

Now all my friends (A considerably large amount of 16-17 year olds and no, we are not the geeks/nerds, I really am part of the "cool" kids if you were enough of a dag to put it that way) talk every Friday about the previous days ZP
(Ironically, adjusted for Time-Zone distance in America even though Yahtzee himself lives about 15-30 minutes away from me)

I will say the whole "America sucks" schtick has been getting run a little ragged the past month and a bit. It almost seems like he's really trying to shoehorn it in there even where it doesn't really fit. (The start of the minecraft review springs to mind). I'm all for poking at America, I do it myself, especially having been in the military you get perspective on some of the seriously retarded stuff America does as a nation and humor relating to it can be damn funny. It just feels like the last couple have fallen flat.

Any one from outside the US care to comment on that actually? Are the US jokes real knee slappers and I'm not getting it because I'm an American?
Not so much erm... knee slappers?... but reasonable stuff; I'll rank them as rib ticklers.

A large part of 'British humour' is poking fun at yourself and then at authority figures (and the unfortunate and then the audience before going anyone one else left standing).

You don't get much more of an authority figure than the self-styled 'worlds most powerful nation' so you and your countrymen are going to be targets for a long time. It's almost mandatory for a Brit comedian to pull out a few 'what the fuck are America up to, eh..' lines at the start of a routine these days.

ZP is still going strong the commentary is usually valid and it's entertaining to listen to a well-crafted tirade of amusing abuse rather than a sweary, pointless, overacted rant (like that angry gamer nerd on YT, what a load of shit)

His video's still entertain, and I believe I've been following them since the Halo 3 review. I do take his videos to be reviews, but more as entertainment. You only need to look at the comments for some titles for the standard "Yahtzee your opinion is invalid because it's different from what I think or other opinions I heard." I gave up reading the comments past the first page, too many people that don't understand the difference between opinions and facts.

And come on. The guy owns a gaming bar, has released a novel, and reviews videogames for a living. Seriously, who doesn't like the sound of that career path?

Even if he isn't side-splittingly funny, I enjoy each and every one of his reviews, even if he's ripping apart a game I like. I don't think someone's opinion of a game has to be hillarious to be entertaining.

I'm usually listening for the core of what a review is: telling about the weak points and strong points of a game - although humour can be a plus.

i still watch, i even watch old episodes i've seen, ofcause i watch old episodes on Wednesday and the new episode on Thursday as i live in Australia and even with where Yahtzee being in one of the state that refuses daylight savings (stupid Queenslanders, their only argument is that they work an extra hour for no extra pay, you don't!) the videos don't seem to be uploaded on Wednesdays which makes me think they get uploaded US time so Thursdays always the best bet for me

I voted the first, even though it quite an over statement. I highly enjoy his "reviews" although I disagree with quite a few of them.
He is still funny though and I see the point in some of what he is saying

It's safe to say that I trust yahtzee more than any other game critic or reviewer and here's why. Yahtzee disliked the respect system in SR2 yet loved the rest of the game. So did I. Yahtzee hated the social system in GTA IV. So did I. Yahtzee noticed the lack of any real objective in read dead redemption. So did I. Yahtzee thinks halo 3 is merely average. So do I. This is why I trust him, because whatever flaws he notices I know i'll notice too. I'll still buy a game he's criticized a bit unless he had nothing good whatsoever to say about it, but most of the time I trust him, because he's like me. An instant gratification type of gamer who enjoys dumb thrills such as blowing shit up, base jumping, eviscerating aliens with miniguns, and so on.

He has good weeks and bad weeks like anyone else, its a bit unfair to expect yahtzee to be writing brilliant stuff with every single video, especially since his material is so dependent on the individual games he's playing.

Like he's mentioned many times he hates talking about genuinely good games because they're harder to make funny videos about while the awful shite he often has to play generally makes for comedy gold. But yeah as much as I still enjoy his vids maybe he should look in to doing something new and different, like Bob has been doing with his second vid series where he just talks about whatever he wants and its really interesting and insightful. Yahtzee's articles have made for good reads so I hope people are also checking those out.

The day I stopped seeing him as an actual critic was the day I got back to being entertained by his musings.
Yahtzee is a critic though, so much of a critic that 90% of any video of his is criticism

OT: I dont think ive ever been dissapointed by his videos, maybe i just find his accent funny to listen to

I find his old reviews alot funnier, but he still pop's a really good one now and then.

And I really miss the music in/outros they really added a nice flavor to the videos, I understand RIAA would want billions for using licensed music but still... I miss it.

I still tune in every wednesday, and I still walk away entertained, so yeah I still enjoy ZP.
Same here, and I still love his blackadder-like analogies of stuff. Me and him also have very similar tastes, so that could also be the reason why I still like and agree with his ZP's and EP's.
Besides SSBB and Killzone 2 (Both games I enjoy a lot), I've agreed with him on pretty much every game.

Yahtzee is hilarious, and frankly I don't find his opinions invalid, even when he's ripping my favorite game to shreds. Admit it people, he does bring out the core weakness of every game unlike any other other reviewer I know. And he does it with style!

Staying true to his hyperbole fashion, I went for Yahtzee being Jesus.

Your avatar is extremely creepy. >_>
OT:He makes a lot of good points, and it's always good laughs. You can't always take your games seriously because chances are they have flaws, so he pokes fun at them with a massive finger.
