I think some of his positive (Or semi-positive reviews) are some of the funnier ones, I don't know why. Arkham Asylum, The Orange Box, BioShock, and Infamous were all at least partly positive.

Basically I'm saying, if it's good say so and point out the flaws. If it's bad, crucify the game. He seems to do that pretty well most of the time.

I actually find it humorous that people presume to know what Yahtzee does and doesn't do - especially regarding this web site.

I've kinda met him in person (was an extra in a Game Damage skit), and have watched all the Zero Punctuation clips, and know him enough to say I don't know him at all - outside of his ZP character.

For all anyone knows, he does view these forums and posts under an alias.

Then again, maybe the thought of interacting with half the people in these forums makes him want to gnaw his own head off to prevent the possibility of that ever happening.

I don't know... and neither do you.

(Next people are going to start calling Rebecca Mayes a game reviewer, too.)
so... are you yahtzee??

No. I don't base my game buying decisions on Yahtzee's or any reviews, I just watch them to get for the comedy and to maybe get an idea of what to expect in the game. Although I find Yahtzee tends to contradict himself.

when he did Arkham Asylam, he said something along the lines of "you dont come to me to hear the good things in a good game."

For shits and giggles, I'll say yes.

Let's get enough people talking here that Yahtzee HIMSELF posts!!!
That is never going to happen.
Yahtzee doesn't even watch the forums.
What, you've never bothered to read his Extra Punctuation column where he responds to things people said in the comments for his Zero Punctuation videos? It's fairly obvious that he does in fact read (at least some of) those comments.

Yahtzee posted and only two of us know it, me and him.

Want a hint?

He's gonna kill me for this......

Anyway, no.
Every other game site will say good things about a game.
Even if he exaggerates the bad things, at least he acknowledges they're there.

Though I'd never actually buy a game on his recommendation.

I'm so dead....

Him ripping the game is HIM. If he talked about good thing the entire time, it wouldn't be a yahtzee review, it would just be a gamesradar review, or a gamespot review.

Honestly, I prefer it when Yahtzee just rips apart games. That's what makes the reviews so entertaining.

I don't really take them seriously. I don't think I'd ever use one of his reviews as a way to decide if I should or shouldn't purchase a game.

For example: Oblivion. I thought that Oblivion was awesome, yet Yahtzee really did not like it. The same goes for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I think Yahtzee does just fine, really. I bought Painkiller because of him. It's pretty sweet.

I find it funny that you draw heavily upon the Batman review, when it is the same review he says that people come to him to hear him talk about a games failings.

It's not like it takes any real effort to find reviews that praise games (most of them anyway.) I come to Yahtzee for the entertainment of the thing, not for a serious in-depth analysis. Remember, he is highly opinionated and if being on an internet forum has taught you anything it's that his opinion can vary from yours.

I don't think he realizes that the fact that he hates the games isn't what makes him funny; it's the wit, the colorful analogies, etc. He said once "I know it isn't funny to love a game"... Well hey, if you say you like it with the same wit with which you say you hate things, it will be funny regardless.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't be harsh, because that is part of the character and part of what is expected out of his reviews. However, he shouldn't think that talking about the good bits will make the video less funny.
