I've yet to find a less...girly name than 'friendship group'. Apart from names like mandem crewage, gang, or posse, which I sound ridiculous saying.
What about circle? You could also say group without the friendship part; in most context, that'd be implied. It's really a clique, but most people don't refer to themselves as that.

Anyway, I'm a guy and my best friends are mainly guys.

I'm Female(21) - my 'best' friend is Female. Alas, she's the only Female friend I have (i.e see, hang out with, drink with, talk with)
All my other friends who I do this with are Male, I have the added bonus I play games with these lot, too.

She's always been my friend, and I've been friends with the Males for 6ish years, but when I was 'group friend' hopping in school days, it was always Males I got along and friends with.

I'm male, and so is my best friend. We were neighbors growing up and we've just stayed friends through thick and thin, including him almost murdering me. Most of my close friends are male as well, although I've got a couple really close female friends

Male and male here, turning 17 in October. Not sure who it is though, as it's a toss up between two guys. It depends on how they're acting at the time I suppose.

My best friend is a chap. First chap I met at school in Year 2, and I've stuck with him into Year 10 now. (I'm a 15 year old manly man man. Honest.)

All the people in our little friendship group[footnote]I've yet to find a less...girly name than 'friendship group'. Apart from names like mandem crewage, gang, or posse, which I sound ridiculous saying.[/footnote] are chaps, I don't know why...we all have girl friends, they just never hang around with us.
I honestly cannot picture you as a big bad Arnold man with that avatar. It is beyond my brain's ability I am afraid :( Maybe you could call it... "our guy's group", not too ridiculous, although mandem crewage does sound awesome, and not girly either.

And you are 15?! Last time I saw you post your age you were thirteen, hot damn does time fly.
Yeah, I must search for something else...
*flash of light*
EUREKA!

Well, almost 15. Very close. >.>
Time has indeed flown, and I feel exactly the same, but now with a regular need to shave. XD

Our circle? Sounds like a cult now. XD
And group sounds like a...Ah I don't know. Something official.

I am a guy and it depends what you consider a best friend, in high school, the person I hung out with the most was a guy, but the person I felt most comfortable talking about anything with was a girl. In college and now my best friend is a guy

Crikey, I should really look at profiles more often. Since when were you a girl?! XD
Lawd, this isn't the first time either...

I dont realy have a best freind, I have best freinds which consist of me (A MAN), two other men named marc and shaun, and a girl called lauren.

AND YES, I get the exact same all the time. at least once a month my dad/mum asks if "anythings happenind with her, or when we go out the go "OOOOOOO just you two alone hey" and have once even suggested I get my two guy freinds to leave, so we can be alone. ( on an unrelated note that was an epic night, all four of us were playing different retro consoles; the SEGA mega drive, Deramcast, ps1, and me on a gamecube if you count that as retro)

EDIT: I have a girlfreind now, btw and they have started to sugest I dont hang out with lauren as much, "Sigh"
I know the feeling man, my parents were the same way, not quite as bad, but still the same. At one point in high school my best (female) friend was in the school play, and had outright forbidden me from going to see it. So, of course, I decided I was going to see it. When I told my parents I was going, they said something along the lines of "why? whose in it? what's her name? it's *insert real name here* isn't it?" with all the same implications of your parents. I could not figure out how they possibly guessed that, but they did and they gave me a hard time about it.

Well I don't really have a "best friend" right now, but all my closer friends are male, so yeah. I guess male with male friend.

Of course I didn't choose that, but still.

20, male and best friend is female.

I don't know, I just can talk better with girls about stuff in general. For some reason most the boys I encounter are rather... dull? I mean, the same goes for many girls, but a bit less so. I don't think it's so much depending on gender and more on the people I encounter.

I guess that depends on how you define "Best Friend", because in My case, I have several people fighting for the spot; Two of them are male and two of them are female.
Now, if you define best friend as "someone you have known your entire life and is still friends with" it a female.
But if you mean "someone you hang out with regularly and would do pretty much anything for" then one is a guy and the other is a girl.
Is it possible to have two best friends?

My best friend is a guy (I'm male) and I had know him since University. We have alot of stuff in commons and the reason why he's my best friend is he pretty much think I'm cool just the way I am while he is someone I will always fine forgiveness for.
Thinking about it most of my friends are males but I do have a few female friends (I keep in touch with one from Uni).

I'm a 16 year old girl and the person I consider to probably be my 'best' friend is a boy. I find this totally normal, he is just my friend who I can talk to for hours and get along with quite well (though we do have our disagreements and pet peeves etc) just like most people and their friends. But my mum, for a long time, could NOT understand the idea that he isn't my boyfriend. She still asks if 'anything happened' if I stay at his house or, the last time she asked that, we had shared a tent on a camping trip.
What about you, Escapists?
Well, my best friend at college is a girl. If anything, as you get older you get better at keeping your hormones in check, and boy-girl friendships are even less likely to fall apart over petty stuff.
Then again, I suspect the only reason she befriended me in the first place is because she thinks I'm hot. And then got obsessed with me because I was the only guy who was too antisocial to succumb to her seductive charm. And we've had our share of complications. But we're still friends despite it all.
