Luckily, here where i live, the only thing they keep track on is what IP addresses you connect with. Since i have a dynamic IP, and they can't record any data that I've accessed, I'm pretty calm about it. Also, no government or court would pursue suing individuals who have downloaded a few songs, movies or games.
Having said that, i don't condone piracy, everything I've downloaded i try to acquire legally. Since I'm on an allowance i can't get more than 1-2 albums of music every month, but some albums are unobtainable here like "Conan the barbarian OST".
I'm a hard-to-impress gamer, so i buy games on a demo basis, but i do it rarely and with lowered price games. The price they are asking here for a new game is ludicrous considering the regular income, and in most cases, higher than in the US or UK.

Alright, from now on we speak in code. To say "Hello, how are you?", we use "The president dies tonight", "Fine, thanks" is now "Our man is disabling the security systems as we speak".

I don't really care. If they are watching what I look at on the internet (which I doubt), they really need to get a life.

The anonymity of the internet is dying slowly, it was always going to happen and it is really your own fault if you're actually caught through this method... Even so whatever evidence they could gather wouldn't be used in a court of law, who's to say it wasn't someone else using your computer or you allow friends round to use the computer? I don't know about the states, but if whatever IT was got presented in court here (UK) I could only see it being laughed out of the court and leaving the prosecutors open to couter-lawsuits. The information gathered would only help found an investigation, no one gives a toss at whatever porn you recently downloaded...

*Sigh*

It's been known for years that ISPs maintain records of internet traffic, for anything from statistical profiling to, yes, investigative purposes.

However, your information is not being monitored. It gets put into databases and sits there until deletion time. Your information will not see the light of day unless the government already suspects you of something, and at that point, well, you're probably already screwed. If the government was REALLY tracking your every move, every pedophile in the world would be locked up already.

Well, I've downloaded thousands of songs for free over the years and I haven't been carted off to jail yet.

I honestly don't care if I'm being watched. It's not like the people watching me do.

Don't care. It's not a big deal, because in fifty years, when I'm ruling the world, none of this will matter. because while I have ADD and Clinical Depression, I am not paranoid.
