So should someone get in trouble for saying the truth?
Ok here's the story. There's this really gay kid and he loved to annoy everyone by acting all gay around them. He was messing around with on of my friends and he called him a fagget. Instantly he went and snitched on him. Now he's suspended when he comes back from Christmas break.

So my question is should he have been suspended. I know that calling someone a fagget is more offensive then calling them gay but really aren't they about the same thing?

No.

He is not using the term to point out that the boy is a homosexual, rather to use it as a slur against him. Calling him "Gay" would have been the same in context.

Does it matter if they mean the same thing? The word ****** was used a derogatory term to refer to homosexuals, and so it's offensive.

Though, to be quite frank, I don't much care for words, so I just say whatever I feel applies. In this case, your friend should absolutely not have been suspended. It's not as if he suddenly started a fight or something. He said a word.

So your friend called him fagget? I think he was justified to say it. As with all words, it's all about intent. He was annoyed on purpose by that gay kid, and he became pissed. He's not racist for saying it if his intent was simply to lash out at someone being immature against him.

In short, no, he shouldn't have been suspended.

What video game is this about? Sounds like some really boring game about being an idiot at school and thinking you should be able to get away with it to me.

Bah, the school was just afraid of getting sued for being "intolerant." From their standpoint, I can understand their decision, but a suspension was completely unnecessary. Chances are the gay kid (Is he actually gay, or does he just act like it?) wasn't even that offended and just wanted to be a dick.

By that logic, wouldn't all racial slurs be acceptable?

I think that the punishment was possibly too harsh, however I can see why schools are that strict when it comes to things such as racism and homophobia. The kid who did it should really have expected it, unless he was doing it light-heartedly and the guy who insulted him was homophobic.

Either way, the kid giving out the insulting words should really have known something like this would have happened; schools are very harsh on such things these days and if he didn't want the punishment he shouldn't have broken the said rules. He knew what he was doing and was relying on the person he was insulting to not tell the teacher - I personally believe that it's the only reason he felt comfortable to insult the guy in the first place.

By the logic : "Swear Words Are Bad" which people have employed - seemingly - just to get others in trouble, then yes he should be suspended... But if the world was a decent place with fair laws and smart people then no, the use of the word ****** should not get him sent home. It's a shame the latter will never happen because of the stupid school rules of no swearing (you know it's considered assault?!?!?), so dumb luck to that kid and many other who have been born into this unfair world... Now go enjoy yourself on your suspension.

"Gay" and "******" are not synonyms. The latter is very clearly derogatory. It's like saying that "black" and "******" are synonyms.

Not meaning to be rude, but please try and proof-read posts if you are creating threads. Due to your wording it is not always clear about who did and said what.

If the guy was annoying him, then he could have just told him to fuck off, like with any other person.

If the kid was flamingly annoying I dont see why your friend had to get suspended. I cant stand those guys who act like girls, If i wanted to nail a chick I wouldn't be gay.

Edit : but then again if your friend said that to me I probably would knock his teeth out.
