Abortion is, obviously, a horrible horrible thing. But in this case it's just the most humane thing to do.

Abort it without a second breath or thought. It would be miserable, and more importantly, I would be miserable.
Sounds incredibly selfish, but incredibly true.

It's going to be a very long time before I'm ready to stop living my life for me, and start living it for my child(ren), but even then, I won't accept a completely miserable life, especially if I can do something about it.

Selfishness aside, the child simply wouldn't be happy. It wouldn't be able to think beyond an infant's basic needs, because it will never develop beyond that point.

I would go for the abortion...it wouldn't be fair on the child OR the people who have to look after it. It's no life for a person, to be mentally caged in such a way. And adoption would just be cruel on the child so...abortion it is.

Not that I'm blase about abortion, I don't think it should be undertaken lightly. But even if my partner wanted to keep the child, I would abort it anyway. That's a burden that no person should have to bear. That makes me sound horrible, but it was meant in the least horrible way possible.

Id abort it. Of course, with my partners consent... If not, well...i'll try to do my best but tbh, i think id be extremely bitter about it.

ALSO, keep in mind that sometimes some people think indifferently about something, but then when it actually happens to them, they will have a change of heart. getwhatimean?
If they said no, I'd hire a hired gun to abort it with a bullet. Sorry, but nothing like that deserves to be born.
Well that's a dangerous slope ... let's say if there was a genetic test to see if your child was going to suffer from dwarfism. Just because he/she will be ridiculed a bit for it by the crueler kids in school and wouldn't have a chance at normal life you should abort the child? Might be a bit unfair to say, but I think perfectly relevant given little people can suffer health problems and the inability to reach anything above the third shelf in a supermarket is still a disability.

Like most things you have to have definitions and degrees. Besides, it's not just yopur child. If you accidentally knock up your girlfriend, and you want her to have an abortion, but she doesn't, then generally speaking you don't have much choice in the matter.

I'd abort, and I refuse to be ashamed of doing so.

Whether it's kind or selfish, I would not raise that child.

Abortion, it goes against every moral fibre in my body but I don't think anyone should have to live like that.

I'm 18. I couldn't handle a baby, never mind a severely mentally ill one.

Definitely abortion!

Well, unless the fetus is "accidentally" killed. Plus, something that will only be on the level of a 1 year old for the rest of it's life =/= Midget.
You know, if a woman wants to have her child and she 'accidentally' miscarriages due to your 'misadventures' then I think people may have a good cause to put you away for 8 years. Okay but my point was where do you draw the line?

In the end it's about what the parents want (or more specifically the mother).

Wow. That's a lot of abortions. I wonder how, with results like this, mentally challenged babies can even be born at all.

Well, I know for a fact I'm not ready for a kid at all retarded or not. I'd probably have the kid aborted and if she wouldn't abort it, I'd bail.

If the girlfriend or wife agrees, I'd have that baby aborted without a second thought.

I'd kill myself before I would raise (or pay child support for) a retard with the permanent mindset of a toddler.

Wait, then what would you do if your girlfriend didn't agree?

Adoption would let the child to a grim fate as mentioned already.
And no less grim fate to many of those who would have their parents caring for them regardless. Of course most children with such severe mutations hardly survive childhood. But many outlive their parents/carers, and end up without any love or support anyway.
To play safe for me and for them abortion would be the best thing to do in my opinion.
