I would probably just return it. While I see no moral problems with stealing, why bother? It's too much trouble, plus if I return it, there is a very good chance of getting a small reward - or getting to know the other person or even snoop around their home =P

It could make you a friend, y'know. Contacts go a long way.

Now if I just found some cash, clearly lost, I'd probably take it. There is no clear way to contact the person, and whatever.
who knows maybe you'll be giving the wallet back that happens to belong to an STD free nymphomaniac who is willing to rock your world as thanks.

It was in a magazine so that sort of stuff must be true. ;)
Sex is a poor payment. Now, a money reward or just a contact, someone who owes you - that's a lot more valuable...
Well if they run around telling folks about your amazing sexual skills perhaps you will become a world famous star not unlike how most the singers on disney get their jobs.

Good money in being a whore if you are willing to sign a contract with disney.

I would take the equivalent of $10 then leave it.

Because if your money is so forgettable, you don't deserve it.

I would return it if it had info. Otherwise I would keep the wallet. I am so boring.

I'd take it. Wouldn't do anything with the details, not sure if I would get around to giving it back.

If some of my friends happen to find out and feel the need to give it back they can do it, I doubt they would though, we would go to the pub with it.

But I'm a ****, there are good people out there.

When I find wallets all I do is search for maybe a phone number or address to return it, I have no business going through it. I mean if I lost mine I would be up the creek as it has my drivers license, cash, credit card and university cards in so I couldn't justify taking anything out of it.
In the allmighty words of Hank Hill, "It's so personal, it's like money filled underwear."
I generally try to return stuff like that, sometimes taking a few off the top if I don't like the guy.

If there was any way whatsoever of tracking down the owner of the wallet then I would return it complete with all contents without a second thought.

However, if it were simply a wallet with only currency in it, then I'd keep it. After all, if I left it there, it would only be taken by someone else and you can hardly go around asking random people "Hey, is this your wallet full of money?" and expect honest answers.

If there's ID, return complete. No ID but like a "desk" (front, help, info, etc.) at the location with a "lost and found", turn it in complete. If there are any cards or reciepts, there's a way to find the owner. If just straight cash and no means of tracking the owner, regardless of amount; I'd probably just donate it, the owner didn't care enough to keep ahold of it or ID it somehow, I don't need it, and there are plenty who need it more than me.

I Would take half the cash for the effort of returning it.As i know that worse thing about losing a wallet is canceling and replacing things.

So i would be more than happy if i ever lost my wallet and someone brought it back while taking the money

If it was a full wallet with ID and whatnot I would return it since it would be easy to track down the owner.

However if it was a "childish" wallet (hello kitty, spongebob etc.) with no ID and little to no cash I would keep it. However if it had decent amount in it I would take it to the police.

I see a lot of talk of what people *would* do and very little about what people *have* done.

When I was a kid I found a wallet with twenty-some-odd dollars in it, no ID, no cards, nothing. I kept it.

Years later I lost my wallet in a movie theater with twenty six dollars in it. I got it back with six dollars in it. I guess that's karma for you.

I find this attitude odd. It's like the person is going "Who hoo! Money!" But then they feel bad so they only take some of it to make themselves feel better about it? On this thread you see lots of justifications like "oh I deserve a reward or finder's fee for being such a good person to give them their stuff back..." Yeah right, grow up. Either you give them all their money back because you are a genuine good person or you steal their shit because you are an opportunistic asshole like the rest of us.

Nowadays? If I found a wallet I'd probably pocket the cash and flush the rest. Sucker.

Given my current financial status (no hope of a job and at least £1500 short on my rent for the year, and that's before I even think about eating and living day-to-day), I'd take the money and return it empty or hand it into a police station. I'd feel really shitty about taking it, but I'll soon be at the point where I have to seriously consider selling every non-essential item that I own so that I can eat, and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Take the money, leave the wallet in their mailbox.

Losing your license sucks, the money is my fee for saving them that hassle by being nice enough to return it at all.

My sister had her wallet returned to her once by a stranger with all money and cards there. So she took all the cash from it and gave it them as a thanks. Thought that was a solid thing to do, ment she didn't have to re-do all her cards and stuff...
