I'd probably start with lots of yelling, when I lost my voice I'd likely start panicking and when that passes it would be time for waiting, probably for a long time (long enough to become very hungry and thirsty so I'd know some time had at least passed) and at this point it is absolutely impossible to say which button I'd try or where my thought processes had led me.

I'd press the "press this button" button. Nothing's gonna happen 'till I press one, right? Might as well press the one that the information I'm given is pointing me to.

If I die, so be it. It's an unfair scenario, anyway.
If I live, then I get to laugh at all of the people who pressed the wrong one.

Captcha: "Which one is easiest?"
Obviously it's organic chemistry, but what the hell is "oraganic chemistry"? Jeez, Captcha, learn to spell.

I tip the chair forward and let gravity decide which button I press first and if I can't do that I press each button with blatant disregard for whichever one I hit first.

The point was "if forced, which button would you press", yes.

And you'd sit it out and not press anything? A common answer, one I don't get.
You created a pretty detailed scenario for such a fundamental choice though o.o such as which arm is free and what's tying you down, it feels like there should BE an escape route not listed or a way around the problem from the detail.

And at least from my perspective I can't see a means to choose a button. I don't know what either one does I don't know the intention of the person who put me here, it's an arbitrary choice which for all I know could kill me that much quicker than waiting. 3 days of thinking for an alternative (which doesn't exist but assuming we don't know that) or a 50% chance of making the wrong choice and suffering the consequences. Seems logical to me at least, I don't know if this is everyone else's reasoning.

answer a) and c) are both the same. C) is just the result of the a).
There are two buttons, one is labelled "do press this button" the other is "do not press this button", it's in the OP.

Seems to be most everyone else's reasoning. Waiting increases the odds that the outcome of either button would become more clear, or at least you would know who labeled them, and what mental state they are in.

It will likely end up being a game of chicken, to see who will give in first. Either you will choose a button, or your captor will change the dynamic of the situation.

Possibilities:

1. The "villian" tied you to the chair, but an traitor or undercover operative has labeled the buttons to give a fighting chance.

2. The villian is the Joker, he has labeled the buttons and is waiting with anticipation to see which choice you choose. Anyone's guess as to what would result from either button, if anything.

3. Psychologists have randomly selected [an] individual (you) for this very experiment, but more literal. The only outcome of either button press is that the one with the results now knows which button is more likely to be pressed, which could be a bad thing. As most will not consider this option

4. "Friends" have tied you to this chair as part of a prank. The "Press this button" button, will result in some kind of perceived favorable outcome. The "Do not press this button" button will likely result in immediate release.

5. The "villian" has labeled the buttons, and assigned repurcussions for you, depending on the button press.

6. The "villian" has labeled the buttons, and assigned repurcussions for those close to you, depending on the button you press.

7. The "villian" has labeled the buttons, and assigned repurcussions for those you don't know, depending on the button you press.

8. There is some combination of the above.

In the end, I will choose the "Do not press this button", if for no other reason than morbid curiosity.

Come on you guys, every button around here asking to be pressed leads to Beiber

DON'T PRESS ANYTHING!
So I was warned. Very funny, now how do I un-Beiber the avatars?

Hoping it's only a bluff and not a double-bluff, after hours of agonizing over a choice, I'd pick that one and hope it's either freedom or a quick death.

Don't come back to the site for 24 hours. It's the only way to avoid the Bieber.

"Press This Button"

If it was Jig Saw then being defiant and contrary wouldn't get you far unless there was an apparent moral justification for doing so. I don't know anyone else that kidnaps me and ties me up in a room on weekends so I'll go with that.

Well, it's obviously the PRESS THIS BUTTON button that is the evil one.

But wait, that's what they want you to think, what if the bluff was a bluff?

But what f it goes down from there?

What if both are evil and the kidnapper put you there just to watch you sweat but with no way out!

But what if both buttons set you free?

What if this is all a dream?

At this point I'd be gibbering like a moron let it snowball from there, confusing my captor into releasing me.

I'd look around to see if there is a camera, then I'd probably say the safe word I always use "Flamingo". If that didn't do anything, then I'd probably press the Do Not Press button in hopes that it would kill me. If it didn't, then I might do something really crazy, like take off my clothes.

Jesus I wouldn't want to press either button, I can only assume Im in a SAW-like scenario.

I'd work on getting free from the chair. If Im trapped in the room then I was day or so to see if the police find me.

I reason I'm screwed either way, so I would push the button I was suppose too.

I'd try to see if I could get some sort of confirmation that someone or something else was there. I'd probably press the "press this" button eventually, but I'd still want to see if someone was keeping an eye on me first.

Ok, let's see. Cables are restricting me instead of restraints. Two buttons in which I can only logically get to 1 before the other is locked away.
If I push the "DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON" I probably be killed for not following instructions.
If I push the "PRESS THIS BUTTON I probably be killed for being a sheep.

Looks like I have a long "night" working theses damned cables off... assuming that my captor doesn't kill me first.
