Zombie plague spread through bites, classic style. I don't want the fast and jacked up 28 Days Later type, I couldn't survive that.

But the slow, shuffling type I could handle. The only real strength they have is numbers. Stay out of populated areas, head north and don't get surrounded, I'd be fine. Besides, the possibilities of things to do would be endless. I like being alone, so loneliness wouldn't be a big problem as long as I could keep my pet alive.

stage 3 will be fun, let me elaborate
the way I see it there are 3 main stages of the zombie apocalypse:
1. Zombie outbreak has begun only people who have seen zombies know about it. survivors: random
2. It is public knowledge, panic, chaos the largest number of deaths will happen at this stage. survivors: mostly random
3. less then 10% of the population remain, people will be prepared and people will fight back in order to survive. survivors: people with zombie knowledge that are also in good physical health and know survival skills e.i. not many.

Zombies. The other ones would be too hard to beat, but slow, Romero style zombies would be contained within days. However, my favourite Doomsday is this one.

I'd prefer a Meteor Strike, preferably one where we get some warning.

Society would break down, but without all the dangers of anything trying to kill you (Zombies, robots, soldiers, aliens, animals) until the clock runs out.

It would be the greatest time of everyone's, admittedly now much shorter, lives. You get to do whatever you want, without any fear of lasting consequences since everybody will be dead soon anyways.

zombie apocalypse. a number of reasons for this. mainly being highest survivability, new unification for man (hopefully), and minimum damage to the actual planet, so rebuilding is a possibility within the next few million years it would take for life to develop again (assuming evolution is correct, no real way to know for sure)

Got to go for the 'Zombie Plague' option, if only because it'd be a hell of a lot harder to take on any of the other options with a ready supply of witty quips and a variety of sporting implements.

For example;

*THUD* 'I guess that was his cue to leave'

*THUMP* 'That'll teach you for making such a racquet'

*DINK* (armoured Zombie) 'Time for you to puck off'

Obviously these aren't the best ones (they're already written down ready for Z-day), but the possibilities are almost endless...
how about, in a clothing store, "try these on for sais"
or, "soften this stool!" in a pharmacy
for another sporting one,
"gues its time to tee off!" (removes head of zombie violently with golf club)

yeah, it will be tough to get to that stage though, because i know that not all of my friends will believe me, and so when it hits stage 2 (if it gets that far with romero zombies) it will be difficult to say the least to see friends and family die, or have to kill them myself.

its really a mental game more than anything. thats why most wont make it to stage 3

WW3, it would be the only one I have any hope of surviving, thanks to ridiculous amounts of Fallout.
sorry to burst your bubble, but fallout really dosent prepare you, because in that you play a hardcore survivalist who was birthed into the later stages of the apocalypse where societies have developed to some degree at least, and who has the ability to become significantly better in basically any field just by completing some random tasks which may have no relation to said field of improvement whatsoever.

in short, you only manage to survive in fallout because it is a game and works as such.
that kind of thinking would work better in a zombie apocalypse, where automated security guns and other people with guns are a much much smaller problem.

Hmm, zombies would be awesome if I survived the initial infection, and I could create an empire sprawling across the rooftops of the city, with areas for farms and reinforced bunkers to stay in.
I voted for World War 3 though, just because it is a bit different, and it would be like living in a Fallout game

I have a good one *bite zombie* 'irony you mother******'
*strangling zombie with his intestines* 'choking on your food aren't you'
punch zombie in gut* 'I AM A MAN!!!'
*shoots zombie* 'it is official zombies eat two things, brains and lead and I am all out of brains' (can be edited to become your final words)
*tears off a zombies head* 'and that's how to get a head in life'

i think i have some better ones now, since the first ones were kinda area dependent (especially the first one), with unrelated weapons

splatter a zombie's head with a hammer, "hey buddy got a little face on your shirt"
kill a zombie with a garden tool, "Ain't no zombies on MY LAWN!"
and then the fairly obvious yet i still think funny, "Hoe Hoe Hoe!" (with a hoe of course)
with a gun, "hope you like your lead extra hot!"
or, fire based weapon variation, "hope you like your steak extra crispy!"
with an electric guitar, "now thats what i call heavy metal", or "hope you got health insurance because your mind just got BLOWN" (also works with a shotgun, or other head destruction)

Zombies. All of the fun of gunning down zombies and none of that morally ambiguous stuff that comes with killing live humans. XD

Plus, I have plans in the event of zombies/invasion/WWIII, and a few others.

...No, I'm not paranoid. It's called pragmatic caution!

I have no idea what would be my preferred, but not this.

The work of max brooks shows how very very bad a zack attack would be. First comes denial. We all see the reports. Strange African rabies wipes out small town, china closes Borders...we've heard so many of these. SARS, bird flu, every week a different micro organism lining up to knock out humanity. Were all too busy paying bills and complaining about the latest YouTube star.

Then the great panic. Denial didn't keep em away. They ain't an ignorable fox news scare story, they're crashing through your windows, snatching yo children up, trying to eat em, you get the jist. Millions attempt to flee. Where to? No one actually knows. People drive to a rumoured safe place, only to be met by drivers trying to flee from said place. People drive north without enough supplies to last a month, let alone an entire winter. This panic kills more people than even zack.

The fightback begins at the next stage, but that just makes you expendable. Will you be one of the hundreds abandoned in order to cover VIPs escapes? Or one of the victims of ads, apocalyptic despair syndrome, where having lost everything to the dead, your body and mind just give up altogether.

The long arduous retaking of earth from the dead takes it toll on the survivors. PTSD becomes endemic. Many, feeling the end of their fight nearing just let go, fearing a world in which they serve no purpose. Even those relatively untouched by the dead live in fear of their return.

Oh and them being slow won't stop the spread. In most encounters, people would not be able to think rationally, such is the psychological effect of the zombie. Factor in artillery only winning a morale war for them via showing how unstoppable they can be, and armies trained to go for body shots, and that makes even the most militarily developed nations damn near useless against the z's.

None of those. Mine would be the planet running out of natural resources and all currency/homes becoming worthless.
awesome choice, but not really doomsday, but the outcome would be more than worthwile to watch, i'd transport myself into a universe like that just because what happens after that is unpredictable.

i choose zombie apocalypse because it would be the easiest to survive and the most fun. I'd get me a few buddies, some battle axes and shit, a hot ***** that i choose to save and then fuck shit up on the way to either a safehouse/government safe area/plane/warehouse of drugs. Probably drugs first so i could do the other stuff with ease, fuckin up zombies on acid and coke would be dope!

What do "brains" have anything to do with zombies?
Do you know how difficult it is to crack a skull?
I HOPE they'll be slow and stupid, because it will be deadly otherwise - I'll die in a few minutes.

The most likely dooms-day scenario is probably a big war. Why do I think this will happen?

FACT: Humans like fighting. We've been doing an awful lot of it over the short time we've been on this planet (roughly 500,000-200,000 years).

FACT: Humans will fight over just about anything.

FACT: Resources will become scarce. I'm not talking about Oil - I'm talking about land, rare metals, alloys, fresh water and space. As medical technology advances, our population will continue to grow. With CURRENT medical technology, the UN predicts that the human population will stabilize at around 10 Billion, which is an awful lot. Those 10 Billion, thanks to Hollywood, will want to live an American/Western-style life, and will be very angry if they can't. To live like an American, you need a lot of resources. If all 10 Billion or More want to live a Western Style life, there's simply not enough resources to go around.

FACT: People will never ever give up the right to have as many kids as they want. Even in China, the government is having a hell of a time enforcing the One-Child Policy, and indeed, the Government of China is going to repeal the One-Child policy within three years (they have said as much themselves because they are running out of young workers)

FACT: Lack of Resources + Ambition = WAR!

The Western and Rich Eastern Asian states will not accept a reduction in their lifestyles. The poorer nations will not accept living as they currently do. As resources become limited, tensions will rise. The Military balance of the world is starting to shift as well, with loads of guns and weapons being equally distributed amongst the population.

A war is NOT inevitable. New technology could increase the availability of resources, thus averting the crisis entirely. New technology could create new weapons that could so vastly tip the military balance in favour of a particular group that no one would wage war for fear of being annihilated instantly. Or, nations could impose a TWO-Child per family limit which would stabilize the population and ensure that resources would last!

But out of all the likely scenarios, I envisage another World War as the most likely scenario to occur within the next 100 years.

As for the other scenarios - a meteor impact WILL happen. It's just a matter of time. Space is full of chunks of rock that whizz around with scant regard to planetary orbits. One WILL hit the earth - it's happened before, it sure has hell WILL happen again. But we don't know when it will happen. It could happen a Billion years from now, or 10 years from now, or (and this is if the asteroid is particularly black and unreflective), it could happen 5 MINUTES from now! Yes, seriously - if an asteroid approaches at sufficient speed and if it is sufficiently black/non-reflective, we have NO WAY of knowing if it's coming! We could be wiped out at any time and there would be no warning! YAAAAAYYYY! I bet knowing that fact makes it easier to sleep at night!

Robot Uprisings are unlikely - we'd just program the robot to be non-violent or have no pride or ambition - remember, WE program the robots. It would be easy to program the robot to have absolutely no sense of self-preservation. We'd simply program the robots to not give-a-damn if they died, thus removing any reason they would rebel against us. If we program them, why wouldn't we program to be perfectly happy serving us?

Zombies? Unlikely. And if it did happen, we'd probably be able to quarantine the outbreak fast enough.

Alien attack? A sufficiently advanced alien civilization could probably wipe us off the face of the planet within hours. But with space being so bloody vast, it would be virtually impossible for any alien race to find us. Yes, life probably does exist elsewhere in the universe, and the sheer size and distance between solar systems/galaxies means that we will almost certainly NEVER encounter it or find it.

Nature strikes back? Nature is mindless. It can't strike back. We could deplete resources to the point where the survival of our species is threatened, but I would wager that would led to a devastating global conflict before we all actually starve to death. We'll shoot each other while we're starving, but we won't die of starvation. We'll die fighting over the last food rations.

All I got was Starship Troopers and The Sixth Sense :3

Like other people said, a zombie apocalypse would probably be the most easily survivable, seeing as nearly every household has some type of gun/weapon. I think a zombie apocalypse could be alright.
The Sixth Sense I didn't know I mentioned, could you explain :p?
You mentioned water guns,

And in the Sixth Sense the alien is killed by Bruce Willis's crew throwing water at it.
