I mostly use Boone and Veronica. Boone is useful when doing long-range stuff, like running around the wastes. Veronica is more useful if I'm going into a vault or other enclosed space.
I hardly ever use them to those strengths, and just run around on my own >.>
However, of those two... I probably prefer Boone, because he is fun to kill members of the Legion with.

Boone and EDE were my companions throughout the game, i got most of the others and sent them to the lucky 38. Those 2 were just awesome, especially after the lonesome road. It also felt weirdly poetic that there was the robot who had lost everything, boone who had, and me who never really had much to begin with traipsing through the desert. Also the battle music was awesome. Though occasionally i did crap myself a bit when suddenly it zoomed in on some monster Boone killed that i hadnt noticed.

I use Veronica and ED-E as a tag team of awesomeness.

Also, I don't care what Lonesome Road added, I will never pronounce it Eddy. ED-E is pronounced Edee.
I agree, I always say Edee

Boone for me, he's a killing machine. Seriously I could just be walking around seeing nothing then BAM the camera zooms away to show he one shot killed a Raider I didn't even see, plus his Spotter perk is awesome when I'm using my AMR.

Booney's spotter perk is awesome (and so is his side quest), but his perpetual melancholy can be a real buzzkill, and I find tolerating post-apocalyptic hellscapes to be easier in the company of good-natured scoundrels or whimsical vagabonds. Veronica, Cass, and Arcade all fit this role nicely, but since the hypothetical tiebreaker will have been a drinking contest (obviously), Rose of Sharon Cassidy wins running away.

Craig Boone is awesome. I like him because he gives me a nice perk and stays at range and out of my line of fire.:p. ED-E gives some great bonuses too.

Well I started with Boone, as most people probably do, he's very useful when dealing with Deathclaws and the higher level enemies. But I actually felt pretty guilty when I told him to piss off, took on Rose as she's cute, and I don't have the heart to tell her to piss off.

Raul. Didn't have to think about it, I love his comments, his perk is really useful, his story is one of my favorites (especially the gunslinger ending), Danny Trejo rocks, and he's available early on. I love them all, really, but Raul is my favorite. Of the DLC companions I'd have to put Joshua Graham at the top but most of that has to go to Keith Szarabajka's perfect performance for his voice acting, which is in my top ten of all time. Actually when I put it that way I guess I shouldn't count him and instead go for Dog/God.

ED-E For me. She had the best quest from all the companions- at least in my opinion.
The second was Raul, because Danny Trejo and HOLY SHIT a gunslinging cowboy ghoul.

Boone for killing stuff, Veronica for her backstory and personality. Oh, and ED-E, cuz he's more useful than Rex and gets in the way less.

Also, I see a distinct lack of supermutant grannies on that list. This makes Leo unhappy, and when Leo is unhappy, he tells Lily to start chopping.

As awesome as Boone is and as entertaining as Arcade is, after all the backstory and the awesome heroic scene he got in Lonesome Road, I have to give it to ED-E. He's just the best, most badass adorable robot companion a wasteland wanderer could ever ask for.

The answer is that I like man's best friend the best for Fallout. It's a clear shout-out back to the old Mad Max days, where you can see Max calling his faithful pooch 'Dogmeat'. Rex is a best-of-both-worlds deal, being a cyberhound to fulfill both the Dogmeat quotient and the K-9 quotient.

At the start Boone & ED-E, I play as a sniper: Used to roleplay Boone as my spotter and ED-E as our area defense drone, ED-E's warning sound really helped with that!

After the main quest line though when my character settles down to a life of prospecting, I disdainfully go with REX (I've always hated the robot dogs in all the fallout games, they make me sad.) But that item spotting perk of his is perfect for catering to my OCD looting habits.

Rual with his perk

pretty much means use your minigun forever without using another minigun to repair it

I do love Raul, but I use Boone and Rex mainly - for practical uses of close and ranged combat. Plus it makes a good looking motley crew - a sniper, a mechanised dog and myself in a bomber jacket and gas mask. All the bitches come to our yard (wasteland).

I need to replay AND collect the DLC of this game.

I actually really liked Cass. They were all good in their own ways, but Cass felt the most human of the lot of them. Boone was a one-man legion killing machine, Veronica had a comically oversized power fist and while they're my second and third favourites respectively, they were less people, more X-Men characters. Cool yes, but I could actually get caught up in Cass' dialogue and she of all the companions actually had something to say about the Benny quest and not shooting the messenger, whereas with the others it was all their problems all the time.

I'm going to have to go with Veronica only because coincidentally, I am going through my first playthrough of Fallout: New Vegas as we speak and I have yet to encounter most of the companions on that list.

Cass. She's not as badass as Boone who can pretty much solo 50 Legion troops no problem, nor is she as handy as Veronica but there's something about that girl that I really like... Probably the fact that she just shotguns things in the face. Yeah that must be it.

ED-E for the awesome battle music she plays whenever anything remotely combat oriented happens.

Oh and the mute girl in Dead Money... Bloody hell what was her name? C- something I think? Regardless it must say something about me in that I instantly lost interest in her the moment she started speaking.

That sounds so accidentally sexist it's not even funny. :D
