Why did you leave out hades on that list
I have come to regret that decision, my friend.
I didn't add him because he wasn't part of the Twelve Olympians...

Ares but only because of the portrayal of him in Marvel comics. For the most part he wasn't that popular.

Alcibiades was a god among men. I choose him.
What?! The man was a traitor regardless of where he went. He changed sides so often during the Peloponnesian Wars I keep forgetting which side he ended up with (though to be fair, the initial charge against him was difficult to prove, but still).

Wait, we are talking about the same Alcibiades aren't we? Was selected as the commander of the Sicilian Expedition... which went completely to pot.

his antics are just so hilarious, he had to leave sparta because he impregnated the spartan king's wife, then lost the peloponnesian war for athens by leaving control of essentially their entire navy in the hands of his drinking buddy (to be fair, it's his buddy's fault for not listening to alcibiades when he told him not to engage with anyone, but that's a different story).

i just feel bad for nicias out of the whole deal, he really had bad luck with all of that

mostly just reading/hearing about alcibiades is hilarious, it's not out of any admiration (although aside from the sicilian expedition he was a pretty solid military commander- whichever side he was on was usually winning until he betrayed them), it's more out of amusement for his absurd antics

Artemis, the only god with her own groupies.

Also, if my (somewhat limited) knowledge of the pantheon is correct, the one with the fewest atrocities to her name.

So your favourite god/dess in Greek mythology and why.

*sorry, no Hades.. can't seem to add another option, help would be appreciated
What about Aphrodite?

Damn it, the Escapist actually brings up one of the pantheons I worship, but doesn't list the goddess I worship therefrom. **sigh**

I mean, it's not like I'm going to worship any virgin goddess. That would just be weird.

Other than murdering, in increasingly sadistic and creative ways, any man who saw her.

Yeah, pretty much any god from the Greek pantheon has a pretty huge body count. I can't think of a single exception. It's because that's how the ancient Greeks calculated awesome. Hence Hercules (the historical one).

Ha! Fair do-s, though thanks for the first paragraph, didn't know that. So, he's your vote for the Olympians' comic relief then, eh?! (Especially with the shit that they got up to...)

Depending on where you read you'll note that they're two seperate deities and both come together to personify different levels of Hades.

(Hesiod don't fail me now >.<)
Hmmm, I thought (though not being a Classics student) that Tartarus was the place and Erebus was the personification of the concept of 'darkness and shadow/twilight'. *shrug*

BTW points for sicking the lit on me. ^_^

Helios was originally god of the sun, apollo was god of prophecy and music - I think, although later on i think he changed for some reason
