Poll: Your FPS of Choice (Current Generation)

I'm a little stuck between Halo 3 and CoD4, but I'm gonna have to give it to Halo 3 because I had much more fun with it and it's online multiplayer is seriously better than almost all the other FPS that exist.

And for the last time, BIOSHOCK IS NOT AN FPS.

He's borrowed the first six series of Scrubs on DVD from me, and told me to say when I wanted them back. (Oh, and it's Swedish if you were wondering)

You just seem to be a Quake-Elitist.

Battlefield 1943, regenerating health, only 3 classes, all with AT capability, unlimited ammo. Team Fortress 2, no friendly fire, no advanced movement techniques, capping without flag at home, crits. I could go on for hours.
And sure, they may be fun for 20 minutes at a time, but after a while all the flaws are glaring at you and they are impossible to ignore. None of them have the longevity of the classic deathmatch FPS games like Quake and UT. The only reason I play TF2 nowadays is because I have friends who do.

A lot of FPSs, but not all of them. With polls like this, you'll always miss something, but this one is missing a bunch of fantastic shooters of the generation. The Half-life 2 series, FEAR, BioShock, Call of Juarez, Resistance, etc, are not included on here and I loved all of them. Plus, I'm absolutely positive that this discussion has been had over and over and over again, and the results are mostly the same.

Yes, but you will notice this: there are 8 poll options. And, the 'Other' category is in 3rd place. Using logic, every other game with FPS like qualities only adds up to third place. I know that doesn't really work, but... yeah. I can't cater to everyone, and I was shooting (pun intented) for the ones with more of an online aspect to them.

Also, link me to another thread like this. I've search barred and nothing's come up.

My FPS of choice is sadly CoD4. I hate the game, but I never seem to stop playing it. I much prefer to play Battlefield: Bad Company, but rarely play it because I never have anyone to play with. But when I do play it I enjoy it immensely.

And I just glanced at every reply, and I think that the two longest ones were my post, and then your reply to my post. Most of them are one sentence. That's not exactly indicative of a lot of intelligent discussion. Also, I understand why you did the poll (easily viewable), I just think that it would have made tons more sense to let people discuss which is the best rather than just give them the poll. That way, you avoid fewer one sentence posts, and avoid people like me who think their favorite game should be on there.

I'm going to go say Team Fortress 2 is best. I liked it when it first came out and now they keep adding updates along with new maps and modes and it's probably one of my favorite games of all time (except maybe Portal).

Lol it's a POLL. It's just asking people's opinions and if you have an opinion other than one on the poll choose the "Other" option. The point of a poll is to collect people's opinions and "dude Call of doody ftw" is, indeed, an opinion. No real need to argue which is better and it's even MORE pointless to argue about the poll itself.

I'd say Halo 3, mostly because I'm new to this generation and it's the only one that I own sadly... but, contrary to what other people say... I actually enjoy it!

I have almost the same reason, but I don't own a 360. Halo 3 is my favorite to, but I suck at it now cause I always move the freakin controller bumper when I play and it deters me away from the enemy. [I tried to quote one part, but I don't know how, so yeah.]

First of all, the reason I'm arguing about the poll is because people argue about the games. Wasn't that made clear? Hmm. I'm telling you that people's opinions on this subject have been "collected" thousands of times on the internet and it's stupid to do another one, espicially when the options leave out so many. There are hundreds and hundres of others, I don't get the point of the poll unless you can narrow it down more specifically than just "best FPS".

I'm going to stop this now: I don't want the mods getting involved, and I want to rerail my thread. Just one thing before I stop: polls are almost created for threads like this. If they shouldn't be allowed here, where should they?
