Poll: Your FPS of Choice (Current Generation)

Logic would also tell you that it would be best to either A) not make the thread, because again, this topic amounts to people saying "dude Call of doody ftw" or B) not making the poll so you don't forget to leave out games. Honestly, I don't know if there are other threads specifically with this name, but any thread that has any variation of "good FPSs" has been done to death.

And call me a fanboy, but Half Life 2 seems just a bit more significant than Battlefield 1943.

A) If you look through the thread people have actually made some pretty intelligent comments, not the stereotypical drawl that you assume there'll be. B) So, that's like giving a burglar some money so he won't steal it after? I don't see the logic you made with that comment. Oh, and you still haven't linked me that thread.

Oh, and I'll just reiterate something I've said before: the games I've put in the poll are all largely online games. That's what I'm looking for in this thread, but if you want to get into semantics then I'll change the title of the poll to reflect that if you wish. So, with that logic, Half Life 2 isn't really the kind of game I was looking for. Sorry if it offends you, but... yeah.

Are you really trying to tell me that people haven't debated which FPS is the best? I'm sorry, but that's hilarious. Maybe you should have changed it to "online FPS", but I really don't care/mind. And I just glanced at every reply, and I think that the two longest ones were my post, and then your reply to my post. Most of them are one sentence. That's not exactly indicative of a lot of intelligent discussion. Also, I understand why you did the poll (easily viewable), I just think that it would have made tons more sense to let people discuss which is the best rather than just give them the poll. That way, you avoid fewer one sentence posts, and avoid people like me who think their favorite game should be on there.

I'm going to stop this now: I don't want the mods getting involved, and I want to rerail my thread. Just one thing before I stop: polls are almost created for threads like this. If they shouldn't be allowed here, where should they?

Fair enough, let's agree to disagree. I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed here, I'm saying it's not the best way to deal with the topic. And actually, repeat threads (like this one, please don't deny it... this could be the most common topic in the history of internet forums) were once not allowed here. That was "back in the day" or... something, but it was actually in the rules at one point that repeat threads would be locked. I think.

Best story(Yes I actualy like the story.) and gameplay evar. The characters and the humor in the game is just.. godlike. In my opinion it's much better then the greyish dark nameless soldiers you play as in games like CoD.
Except for that nasty overpowered Force-A-Nature.

And having BF: 1943 there instead of say, Bioshock is silly.

I don't know... 1943 is huge right now, and after the initial story Bioshock has no real lasting appeal (or so I think, you may think different). So, to me, it's not such a silly choice.

I'D say Team Fortress 2 most FPS are a turn off for me due to realism and dark and gritty and I'm still into cartoons so I really got sucked in to Team Fortress 2 thanks Steam and Vavle

Bioshock probably. Though it's not got much replay value it's still the best fps I've played (I'm a sucker for a story so it's obvious why).
Honourable mention goes to Serious Sam, which still counts because the remake is coming out soon.

I'm just going to say CoD: WaW. Yes, WaW. Because I hardly ever play multiplayer and the singleplayer, in my opinion, was far superior.

Halo 3 for me, most accessible, mainstream (so large population) and colourful.

I feel like the OP just wanted to get a sense of which current-gen, multiplayer FPSes are enjoyed most by Escapists. This thread seems to have little to do with the best FPS ever made. So the only other Battlefield games that could possibly fit would be Bad Company and maybe 2142.

Your right idk how i thought they were. however i still stand by Turok and the battlefields which ARE current gen. Bad company for example, and battlefield 2 was remade for 360.

Red Faction Guerilla isn't really an FPS... maybe an FPH (hammerer), Gears is 3rd person shooter, Halos 1 and 2 and the other Battlefields aren't current gen, and Turok - really?
