Just coz I'm a Naruto fag. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. Awesome awesome game. XD
How in the hell do they do it?

How is it that most of the Naruto games managed to not suck?

Except for the Ninja Council games...

Minecraft woooo

No, I really did vote for that.

But if I had to be serious, I'd probably say Mass Effect 2 out of those. It would be Civ 5 but it's just so damn buggy and crashy that it doesn't deserve it.

Mass Effect 2, although AssCreedBros is out next month so it's going to be a tough competition.

On a side-note, this year has gone really fucking fast.

How many people still play Mass Effect 2? Who still talks about it? Who still cares about it?

The answer to all 3 of those questions is "a fraction of the people who were hyped about the game after launch".
You clearly haven't been to the Bioware websites. The game may not be discussed nearly as often on public forums, but damn near everyone I ask (who played Mass Effect 2) still plays it and loves it. And EVERYONE who's played it is going borderline insane waiting for Mass Effect 3.

That said, and unsurprisingly, my vote goes to Mass Effect 2 this year. The gameplay was improved, the focus on the characters rather than the Reapers was a brilliant move, and the presentation is almost second-to-none.
That point is more than slightly invalid...

It's like going to a football forum and finding out that people like football. What do you expect?

Going to a Bioware forum and finding out that people like Bioware games is not something you can base results on. It's a positive control. You know people love that stuff.

If you went to a "Bioware sucks" forum, you'd have a negative control. A place where you know people hate Bioware games.

The only way you can gauge a true public response is by visiting public forums that have no affiliation with anything to do with Bioware. General gaming or computing sites where a thousand people can say anything about anything.

Its in those situations you find out that Mass Effect 2 really has left a very minimal lasting impact. Because people are too busy talking about Minecraft these days.

As a counter argument, consider Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It's been over 10 years since its release and has been superceded by a host of Zelda titles, yet people still talk about it and refer to it as a classic game. It typically ranks very highly in "alltime top games" lists.

That is a true great game. Mass Effect 2 is nothing close to that. People have stopped caring for Mass Effect 2 and when the sequel comes out, people will care even less about it because theres something new.

Don't be mad. Banjo Kazooie/Banjo Tooie are my all time favorite games but no one talks about them these days. Which is a shame, but its just the way things are.

Mass Effect 2 is not a great game. It's good, but it'll never be great.

I haven't gotten my hands on Black Ops, New Vegas or Brotherhood yet, but I'll proceed with Splinter Cell: Convivtion.

Made me feel like Jason Bourne or something and I have to admit, it completely re-acttracted me to the stealth genre.

I will go with The Sacrifice DLC for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2.

Yes, I know it isn't an actual game, but a DLC. But there was such a massive build up with the comics and that cool trailer, and so I couldn't help but feel excited. It was the first time I stayed up to midnight on a night before school, trying to complete it on expert.

Absolutely and 100% Mass Effect 2. You can't dispute this fact, ME2 was the best and every game pales in comparison to it. Go ME2!

Mass Effect 2 for me. Am really really enjoying New Vegas at the moment though, but Mass Effect 2 is the winner for me.
Same here, though I'm also looking forward to The Force Unleashed 2, and I MIGHT be able to convince myself it's awesome because of my ridiculous Star Wars Fanboyism. I doubt it'll beat Mass Effect though, it's already got a bad review...

Look at the poll, dude. If nobody cared about Mass Effect 2, why is it winning? I think you just haven't been looking at the right posts.

So far it is Mass Effect 2, which is plainly obvious. It was a greatly enjoyable experience.

However, there are still 4 other games released this year that I am yet to play so they may change my mind. Those are Fallout: NV, Fable 3, Halo: Reach and Enslaved, they should be jolly good.

Mass Effect 2. Epic series, epic story, epic characters plus its using your save data from the first game to help guide the story in the second and third. How awesome is that?

I haven't really played that many games from this year yet.

Alpha Protocol is pretty good though, but certainly not excellent.

Hey! Its not the end of the year yet!

Sources indicate that GT5 will be here before 1/1/2011 so I don't think we can call it yet.
Sources also said that it would be released in 2009. So I wouldn't hold my breath. Even though I and my father really, really, really want it.

OT: I would have to say either FF XIII, Beat Hazard or something else. I don't really give games my GOTY stamp. I just enjoy it for what it is, and then be done with it. And if I enjoy it enough I come back to it.
