My parents were strict when i was younger but once they realized that having blood and drugs in a game wont make me become a mass murderer they let up on it

I have whatever I want, they know I'm fine, and so they don't feel the need to regulate what I play.

My parents have always been pretty okay with violent games. The only thing that they wont get me is a game that features sexual themes and such, but they are loosening up on that.

as long as it didn't glamorize rape or something, than they let me play anything. My parents are not religious(my dad is, but only slightly) and have let me see the mad max movies, yes the uncensored Australian versions with the blood and all, and think of it as a way of mindless escapism, like a movie or book. I had played Duke Nukem by the time I was 6 and doom 3 by the time I was 10, they don't let me play the GTA games because they think that they do glamorize crime a little bit and the first ones don't look overly fun, IV does though.

My parents don't seem to mind as they know I'm not the kind of person to imitate anything I'd see in a videogame.

I remember watching my dad play the original Doom when I was 5 and I didn't turn out too bad.

And I quote:

'Kiddo, you are mature enough to know the difference between reality and a video game, go crazy.'

My Dad.

(Dad then purchased Resident Evil 2 for the PSone).

My Parents never had any input into the games I played. Just how long I played them.

Yeah, watched dad play Diablo 1 and 2 when I was 5. Played them when I was 7, and for the most part as long as your killing villians as a charecter, he didn't mind. He realized I'm not that impressionable by a bunch of moving pixels.

my dad just bought me left 4 dead 2, but he has a problem with Grand Theft Auto 4.
Yeah, Jack Tompsons a dick when it comes to videogames. I had to make an agreement with my dad and pay for 75% of the game. Took a while of convincing, but you for the most part only kill criminals and the strip-clubs have partialy nude women, and really if you were that desperate to look at boobs you can just go on the internet.

I first watched Alien when I was 6 and was rolling since then. I usually watched them with my parents and they made me watch them long before bed but I was fine with it. Violent games didn't bother my parents at all, my mum knew they didn't make people into murderers so she let me play whatever I wanted unless it was overly sexual.

The real worry for my mum wasn't that I'd go copy violence but that I'd have nightmares. I assumed I'd be all right and I remember sitting up one night watching my dad playing Maniac Mansion and it gave me nightmares for years for some odd reason (I was really young though)
My mum is actually into survival horrors and I watched her play the original Clock Tower and that shit me up for a while but then I kinda got used to it and ended up playing games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill with her.

I never had the money to buy games as a kid anyway. My brother was a coupla years older so I used to nick his and that was fine till I could get my own and even then I would much rather stick my head in a Final Fantasy game.
