My dad used to be a hardcore uber nerd that made his own D&D maps and practically programmed his own games on his own computer, on top of CAD designing fighter jets. I shit you not. Of course now he views video games as practically evil, and thinks that video games made me suck at life. I don't, but meh. The latest titles he was enthusiastic for was Republic Commando, which I loved and he did too. Nowadays hes playing the latest Goldeneye on the Wii.

My mom plays games on her iPhone mostly, and she isn't really interested in getting beyond that. Thats not to say she doesn't like a good story and rich atmosphere and will sometimes watch me play on a console and we'll talk about story sometimes.

I wouldn't say my parents are interested to much in video games and that they are more dabblers.

My parents are completely ignorant to the gaming world, and they have no understanding for it whatsoever.

They keep asking me if it is really necessary for me to spend "sooo much time" in front of the screen. Of course they ignore the fact that half the time I spend in front of the computer is school related and/or facebook.

I think both my parents would be happier if I threw out my computer and xbox. Which actually makes me quite sad to think about.

My father enjoys racing games. He'd come in from work some days and say "I have a Need for Speed, hook me up."

Besides that, not much besides the usual wii bowling everyone wants to play.

My mother has zero knowledge of games of any kind, including board games. Not too long ago she looked at my computer screen and was amazed by how real the game looked though. I was replaying Crysis at the time >:D

My father knows his boardgames, cardgames and simple computer games such as tetris, pong and other classics such as commander keen. I could also convince him to play some mariokart, donkey kong and eventually a few racing or fighting games on the playstation when I still played on consoles.

My mum was a massive Nintendo lover and my dad used to play Medal of Honour back in the day. He still tries, having currently had a go at LA Noire but he is half painful to watch. My mum lost time after getting a full time job so converted from being a Zelda fanatic to just Bejewelled and Solitaire...it was a casualty I never got over T_T

My dad plays alot of FPS games, Halo, COD, Killzone etc and little else, lol. He just likes shooting bad guys in the face, you'll never see him playing an RPG or a Point and Click.
My Mam is so not interested in games though, she did try and play Sonic 2 a couple of times but got bored really quickly.

My mom is the one that got me into gaming. Ah the good times we had playing Mario on the NES or Sonic on Sega.. something.. Genesis?

She's always been pretty pro-gaming, even understanding when I fell for WoW hook, line and sinker and allowed me to dump free time into it (and money.. oh god the money) as much as I wanted. Not the money of course, but time.

As for my dad, I don't know. Never played anything with him and haven't been on the best terms with him as of late, but that's a story.. for another thread.

my dad isnt enthusiastic about gaming, but he used to play Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing with me when i was a little kid. that was just him being a good dad. ofc, he has never played any video game because he wanted to for himself.

and my mom likes to see the games im playing, but she knows she cant really figure out how to play them. she did play Peggle, though. being a simple, casual game, she wasnt half bad at it.

They don't interfere with my play, but they don't play either.

I've tried showing and explaining to my mum that games can be just as good, if not better, than other art mediums. I don't think she's interested. :( Which kinda saddens me, since I want to work for a video game company in the future. (LOL, I AM actually studying for it, it's not just from my fan of gaming :p)

My dad had always been a classic PC gamer in the 90's. Age of Empires, Starcraft, Grim Fandango, Myst, The Journeyman Project, Duke Nukem, Doom, Thief, Quake, Dark Forces, I remember watching him play them with awe. If it was anyone who brought me into gaming it was my father. I remember when he used to come into my room when I was asleep and play my N64, ah good times. My mother? Never, though she did play Farmville more than any game I've ever played.

My mother bought our PlayStation and remains something of a fan of Spyro the Dragon (she recently was on the verge of tearing up the flooring because Spyro 2 was missing, despite not having played it for several years) and Final Fantasy IX.
She never got to finish the latter, however, since us pesky kids kind of assumed control of the discs.

Dad only plays racing games, and Mum... well, let's just say that she thinks that Final Fantasy (1) is too violent.
And they both get really peeved if I spend more than 1 hour a day playing. Even if I only play on weekends.

My parents played games with us up to the SNES. Once N64 came out, they stopped. Too many buttons, I guess. Then my mom did a stint with Farmville. I encouraged that, honestly. Nothing more delicious than the thought of the woman who was constantly on my case for "wasting time" playing games online getting addicted to an online game.

Dad yes, Mom sorta. She liked the really, REALLY old cames. We're talking Atari. Beyond that she's lost interest.
