There is no dispute on this, considering that meme is a coinage with a well documented pronunciation provided by its still living creator. If you pronounce it differently, you're just wrong.
Do a little research. Dawkins wasn't the first to use this term. Going by pre-Dawkins pronounciation, it would actually be mee-mee.
Which is just as dumb as "meem," honestly. Give me "mehm" all the way.
I assume that you're referring to the word mneme, which is pronounced nee-mee (with an 'n' in the beginning, not an 'm'). It is used as a root word to form technical terms related to memory and comes from Mneme the Muse of Memory in Greek mythology.
I suppose you could also mean the French word même (pronounced mehm), which can mean "very," "same," or "even" depending on context. Not the same as the word meme (though même is cited as an alternative inspiration for it), and even if it were borrowed words from other languages often have different pronunciations.
Otherwise you'd have to mean the Greek word "mimema" (pronounced mi-mee-ma) which means "something imitated." Richard Dawkins claims that his coinage "meme" is a portmanteau of the words gene and mimema.
No matter which you mean I don't see your point being valid, unless I missed something. So, what did you mean?
