I always thought they were silly, childish violence with no redeeming value, made to appeal to our basest violent urges for kicks. Then, I bought Alien Shooter: Vengeance. Alright fine, I have no right to complain. But it's not real, its all just fake fighting, there not real athletes. Then, I saw a short interview where someone pointed out how physically fit and well trained you have to be to be hit by a chair, or body slam someone, and have the know how and the physical fitness to not be hurt. Alright fine, its very difficult to do, like a testosterone injected ballet. But...but...its just so SILLY. Overall, in principle, I have to say that if you like it, more power to you. Don't argue that its sophisticated or anything, and I really can't argue with you. The only real argument is that the type of people who usually watch wrestling tend to be of a certain...type...you know what I mean. But Ill try to judge them, not wrestling. So long story short, whatever floats your boat.

Wrestling is gay, think about it. Two guy in skimpy spandex and rubber shorts grabbing each other and pinning each other down in varies positions. The gayness overshadows everything else.
Then so is UFC and no Gi Brazilian Jujitsu by your view. That goes to the other upteen people saying WWE is "Gay" because of grappling too.

As for me, although I don't love what Vince is doing to the product, and TNA isn't doing much better, wrestling still has a very special place in my heart. I watch it live when I get the chance, I watch it on my computer almost weekly. I've got more respect for the performers in pro wrestling/sports entertainment than most others (especially when you think these guys do up to 4 or 5 un-aired house shows a week, getting a beating every night). It's a industry I worked in as a performer for 7 months before a heart attack at another (far less demanding cardio wise) competition, it's something that I miss doing every day.

Every one knows (now-a-days) it's fake, however I think some of you need to be educated in how "fake" it actually is, but if the guys in the ring are good enough, you forget, just for one match, you're drawn in, you enjoy it and you can't stop yourself cheering at the end.

And it has only earned my undying hate for being on the Sci-Fi channel (along with whoever made the decision to put it there.)
Pretty much this. I'm betting that whoever made that decision is the same guy who decided to rename the channel. And the guy who authorized "Mansquito".
Or Ghost Hunters.

I don't have a huge problem with the show, I guess, except that it tries to pretend it's real.
And people believe it.
It's on the Science Fiction channel you jackasses.
How much more clear does it need to be?
Yeah, the Sci-Fi channel really needs to stop doing reality TV. I mean, when was the last time that they actually came up with a good original show on their own? Stargate? That's based off of a movie. Battlestar Galactica? That's a semi-remake of an old TV show (although the new one was awesome). Stargate Atlantis? That's DOUBLY unoriginal. Stargate Continuum? Even more so. Sanctuary? It's based off a Canadian web TV show.

Yep, guys, way to develop your network.

I just love stereotypes, I always see people saying that they're open minded and then when I tell them I watch wrestling, they look at me like I'm an idiot. There are some blithering idiots who think it is real and give all fans a bad name; and then there are the group of fans that are fully aware it is staged, appreciate the act and those who do it well. Not all wrestling fans are a trailer trash hive mind. I've tried to explain this to people before, but they don't want to listen and always go back to the tired stereotypes and insults.

It's fake, and WWE doesn't try to keep it a secret. And I wouldn't have it any other way. The only WWE event I watch each year is wrestlemania because it's actually slightly entertaining. I like to use the term staged, not fake. While it is a theatrical performance, the dangers are real, it is painful. It is simply impossible to be thrown off cages, tossed into thumb tacks, through tables, falling off ladders, burned and act like you didn't feel anything. Most likey, people who "compete" in the WWE have already had their life spans shorter several years.

The Acting makes me cringe. I'm an Actor myself, of course, so when I see the wrestling monologues/interviews, I just want to flip the channel.

I can't watch anything faker than Katie Price's rack.

OH YES A TITS JOKE. I WENT THERE.
Oh I laugh at it long time.

Yeah Wrestling isn't entertaining to me. What is fun about sweaty men slapping the ground beside someones face and commentators screaming "OH THAT GOTTA HURT". I think it must be for the younger crowd.

To be fair, Stargate is always awesome.
So is Sanctuary.
Moonlight isn't bad (it only lasted one season and is really more of an urban fantasy, though.)
I don't deny that Stargate and Sanctuary are awesome; they're among my favorite shows. I haven't watched Moonlight, but I'll check it out. I'm just saying that all of the good stuff on the Sci-Fi channel is based on other people's concepts (except for maybe Moonlight, which I know next to nothing about). Everything they came up with on their own sucks, especially the D-movies that they shit out every week or so.

It's fake and I know it so why watch it? It's not a sport, it's just watching topless muscular sweaty guys roll around on a mat together. Not my idea of "fun television".

I never said that it was impossible to break the stereotype. I will make a point of not judging someone based on there preferences. But even though there's not causation, there's still seems to be some correlation.

I used to hate it but now when ever I think of it I think of that movie The Wrestler and my hatred is suddenly beaten into depression. God that movie was depressing.

sure its fake and i dont exactly watch it but i am impressed with a single fact that with all the moves they DONT get hurt, thats amazing timing and skill to avoid doing serious damage even by accident
I beg to differ, it hurts less than it would if you didn't know how to fall, but it hurts like a son of a *****, everyone in a match goes away with a few bumps and bruises, a few go away bleeding, some unlucky few get stretchered out, I've seen it and been there.

I agree, but they're supposed to be wrestlers not actors, WWE and TNA hand a around scripts for everyone to learn for their segments now a days, back in the attitude era (with The Rock and Stone Cold) it wasn't scripted, they were given a general idea, a point to get across in their segment and they always came off better than they do now.

Haha you reminded me of a scene with triple H, he rehearsed it so much he could do it with his eyes shut, then he forgot to put a t-shirt on as he came to the ring then tried to take it off, ahhhhhh, I laughed
