I would change certain things of my own timeline, no doubt about it, I care not for the consequences.

Definately only things that involve myself. Too much scope for fucking the future up if I do anything else. Probably just win lottery , place bets on sporting events, etc.

I would go back in time and fix the signs of electricity so current flowed from the negative terminal.

I wouldn't have fucked off in school and only left a week to do an 8 page paper.

In fact, I should be doing it now.

I wouldn't change anything, why? Because I do not know how it will alter the course of time. If I went back and killed Hitler, how do I know we will still enjoy the standard of living, and the technology we have now? Many of the things we take for granted now were developed or perfected during WWII and the subsequent Cold War.

I say leave the past alone.
The story of Red Alert was one of the first things that came to mind when I found this thread. Einstein went back in time and killed Hitler, only to return to the present and find that Stalin amassed a giant army and was attacking the rest of the world.

There's also the matter of the difficulty of doing things like killing someone, or stealing something from the past. Say you go back in time to kill Hitler. You attempt to do so by slitting his throat, only for a police officer/security guard to stop you. Then not only have you failed, but you're fucked.

Assuming I could go back in time with nothing being different aside from my memories (I know then what I do now), I'd go back in time, work out more, avoid buying games that suck, beat the shit out of people who pissed me off in elementary school (knowing I wouldn't get in any significant amount of trouble), take different classes in high school, and get more involved in social stuff like a job, martial arts, etc. at a younger age.

.....kill Jesus, circa AD 16. I wouldn't kill a baby, and this should be before he became batshit bonkers and started convincing people he was the son of God. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to run in a random direction, hopefully fast enough to outrun the flames.

"Don't take intro to engineering, past me. It may seem like a good class suited to your interests, but it's pretty much a workhouse and the teacher's rather like your health teacher."

I'd go back and stop the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand, the event that started the chain reaction to World War 1. That's my serious answer.
Otherwise, I'd probably see if I could make this point in time steampunk, just for fun.

Find whatever caused the Christian Dark Ages and destroy it.

If it weren't for that period, we'd have sentient mining robots on Neptune which we could upload our brains into by now.

Change one of Hitler's speaches so he spends the whole time talking about Marzipan and bunny rabbits.

Why? Because to muck about with ANYTHING in History could be catastrophic...dicking about with Hitler's speach seems relativley in-consiquential...doesn't it?

I know my own history, and know that changing it would not effect the grander scheme (much). If I were to change something in earths history, I'm messing with forces I cannot imagine. I'll settle with the lesser of the two. :)

Probably, either, save a friendship lost by my own stupid course of actions, OR, something surrounding the one woman I loved wholly.

I'd just change some small thing that happened to me recently, like not procrastinating on the 3 debate cases I was working on last weekend. Anything more extreme might cause a butterfly effect.

It really depends, because of all the paradox things that could happen, I might destory teh UNIVARSE, LOLS. But if it's like heroes, where I remain a constant and the universe becomes a variable, I would... Do one of a couple things. I would go back in time, change my own past to win like, the lottery or something and become rich, or go back in time and perfect a moment I made awkward with my social retardation, or go back and stop the spread of religion (Atheist, but I won't go into it for fear of a flame thrower to the face), or go back and watch some cool event for fun. Ooooor, go back and live in another time for awhile, then return (assuming I return to my original age at that time). Two lives.
