There's a battle in a castle and the field around it and you're now in it! Let's have a vote on what the Escapist prefers when it comes to weapons.

[HEADING=2]Guns:[/HEADING]

  • Pros-

    Fast firing rate, highly lethal, long range.

    Cons-

    Limited by ammunition, hard to use in close range quarters.

[HEADING=2]Swords (or other blade weapons):[/HEADING]

  • Pros-

    Never runs out of ammunition, can decimate at close range, don't have to carry ammunition.

    Cons-

    Limited to your own physical endurance, you need to be able to reach the enemy.

[HEADING=2]Magic:[/HEADING]

  • Pros-

    Medium range, area effect, no armor can protect against it.

    Cons-

    You can only use three spells before needing to recharge for thirty seconds, you must have both hands on a staff in order to cast.

You are thrown into a brawl full of mages, gunmen and mobs of men with swords. What do you use?

I'm a gun wielding person. I'd like to keep moving but head for higher ground. I'd try to make every shot count but I wouldn't hold back when it comes to killing mages. My weapon of choice would be the AK-47.

Your turn! Also discuss what kind of sword/gun/spell you would prefer and your plans on surviving.

[sub][sub][sub]Had to nerf magic a bit otherwise everyone would pick it.[/sub][/sub][/sub]

According to Conan the Destroyer, the choice is simple.

"What good is the sword against magic?"

Good question ol' chap.

It isn't.

Against guns?

Different story all together, but the prepared mage always wins.

End of story.

Let see-
Gun
I have no experience at using a gun at all so if I use it for the first time in this brawl, chances are I would miss while firing so that no good.

Sword
A sword would be a lot easier to handle although I lack the proper arm muscle (I got weak arms) to swing a sword (I assuming this sword is heavy) properly so again it is no good.

Magic
If this require learning some magic spell then I am capable to learning but if it require speaking out the spell then I'm done for. Granted I great at talking but trying to learn in new forigen like language (spell) is something I'm terrible at.

My conclusion
I would go for the magic route as I have a higher chance of survival at using magic then using either sword or guns.

Swords.

Simply because, I would ninja flip everyone, use my feet to knock down people.
And, use others as meat shields to get to the gunmen, then kill them

Basically, I'd Duke Nukem their ass'

I can see why you wanted to do that, but I think you failed, because you let us select our own spells.

My three spells:
1) "kill everybody in the vicinity but me"
2) clean up my new, awesome castle
3) conjure harem of beautiful women

If you select the spells for me, I might have to reconsider. (I choose guns over swords, because guns are actually not that bad at a short range.)

Your username makes me think that bacon might be people too and that scares me.
No way. It's totally trustworthy. Soylent Bacon is delicious and nutritious breakfast from a totally NOT morally and ethically questionable source. Really.
Really? Darn, it would be a lot more convenient than hunting down people myself and I'm really glad to hear that.

Except that time Conan killed a wizard.

With a sword.
