Swords are the equivalent of an officer's pistol.
They are the least effective of all melee weapons.
I'm gonna stick with my Depleted Uranium +7 Rocket-Drill-Lance of Soviet Slaying.
CAPTCHA: sdatimi from.

Or where swords can also be guns that can also enhance magic.

Im going with my guns. Meaning my own bulging biceps that will destroy everything. (there's nothing stuffed in my sleeves I swear. No, I will not take off my shirt.)

Either guns or magic. I'm not too physically strong myself, so I would have to fight at range.

Ask any ER doctor and they'll tell you bladed weapons do more damage than guns most of the time.

Guns. Magic takes time and you don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Unless of course you are playing CoD.

Magic. Developers add tons of extra restrictions on all use of magic in games because it's that overpowered.

I'm going for magic all the way, you can solve all your problems with fire, especially magic fire.

Magic, you never said I couldn't use "stun" and "burn to a crisp."
And I like magic more..

This question reminds me of the anime Kämpfer.

Yeah I'd probably have to choose guns. Unless my sword can reflect bullets, or everyone is super dodgey or clad in bulletproof armor, guns are probably going to end up winning in the long run.

If magic wasn't so limited I would have chosen it. My choice ultimately is guns because I'm ammo efficient and will keep my targets at a distance- I simply won't give them a chance to get close enough to attack me. Also, what about using a shotgun or carbine for close quarters? You wouldn't exactly be hindered so much for fighting CQB then.

Magic:
lets see id use a protection spell to stop guns, swords, and magic from getting to me then have an aoe attack with a freezing effect and a strong single target damage spell with the ability to pierce shield and protection spells that is preferably unreflectable

I would summon an army of undead shadows to drain the life from my enemies while I stay safely on my own demiplane.
Shadows having no physical form are of course not effected by anything other than magic.

Every single rpg I've ever played I end up picking a rogue. They're always the most powerful. Thus I activate stealth, sneak behind people, pull out my morgul blade and start backstabbing.
