I'm surprised at the higher level of civility on this thread as opposed to the comments for the ZP itself... although I supposed I shouldn't be. Yahtzee does seem to attract more than his fair share of the Batshit-fucking-LOCO crowd.
OT, I liked it, but then I like the electro-chick-music thing, so I'm predisposed to liking it. I know that there is a lot of fans of extreme music on this site, and I bet they really didn't care for it.
I'm always kind of shocked at the people who seem to equate 'I don't like it' with '...so the artist doesn't have any musical talent'. I honestly just try to limit my reponse to "it's just not my thing" when I'm in that situation, unless it's pretty clear that the person is completely lacking in musical skills. RMM, love her or hate her, can objectively be said to sing well, and to play multiple musical instruments with some skill, so you can't say she's devoid of talent, even if you don't like what she creates using that talent.
EDIT:
Also, it appears to be necessary to point this out: if you don't think the staff of the Escapist was behind this, then you're just being silly. It's their job to promote the stuff that they pay people to produce for them, and one of the best ways is to leverage a high-drawing feature (like ZP) to get people to view stuff they might otherwise not check out. Why do I say this? The Escapist is a business. They own the content shown here, not the artists. (Think of it as TV Shows, not like music CDs.) They know exactly what is going on with the content they're posting.
So stop with the 'Mayes is just riding Yahtzee's popularity' comments. That just isn't likely to be the case, really.
