I think it depends

say, if all continuities were one, then it would probably be Earth, or some parallel dimension

as far as I remember, Ponyland, Paradise State and Flutter Valley are on Earth, North America to be precise, since Firefly does get a human to get in contact with other ponies... which also explains why there's no humans anymore in the show, Megan and the other kid were fucking retards

and I think Unicornia was somewhere in Europe, close to Asia, or more precisely, Russia

but that's all I remember, haven't kept up with it =P

though Equestria seems like a rather varied land in terms of environments, so it may be in North America in my opinion =P

TLDR: Where exactly is Equestria?
Ancient Greece.

All the monsters are Greek (Hydra, Manticore, Cockatrice) or Western European (Dragons), as is the architecture and art (Greek, that is). Look at Cloudsdale - all Grecian style.
Problem is that by that logic you could just as easily say The Lord of The Rings takes place in medieval Britain, similar architecture and mystical creatures doesn't necessarily mean one takes place in the other

A couple galaxies away from the one Star Wars was in. They're the aliens that visited us on so many occasions.
Also, the Bermuda Triangle is a plot by them or something.

You should specify the font size and letter spacing too, don't want him putting the font to 72 and putting 10 spaces between each word.

Monsters are only part of what I said.

Architecture - Cloudsdale is clearly Greek architecture.
Culture - Rarity goes to a Grecian bathhouse.
Religion - Celestia and Luna are very much inspired by combining a few of the Greek gods.

Eh. Just like any fanbase, we have varying degrees of fans and motives behind being fans. It just depends on who you talk to.
Like any subculture, a lot of us are in for different reasons.

these pony lovers best not turn this crap into a cult.
Cult? Nah. That has a negative connotation to it. I like to think of it more as a doctrine.

Then that begs the question, is it only Celestia and Luna who exist or do both Celestia and Luna and the God exist? Are they the literal combinations of the Gods, are Celestia and Luna merely the God's representations to the Ponies, are the Gods actually just the literal split up parts of Celestia and Luna as representatives to the Humans, or are the Gods and Celestia and Luna competition for each other?
So many variables.

Okay, I have to ask, is this serious? I mean, I'm a fan of the show and whatnot, but taking it to this level is probably what makes other people think bronies are creepy.
It's all meant to be in good fun.
Yeah, after reading what I posted I thought about how much I do crazy stuff like this. Never mind, statement redacted :)

Wait, I got it! Equestria is located beyond the second star to the right! It's so simple, why didn't I see it before?

I'm inclined to say post-apocalyptic Earth. That's why so much of the technology is hoof-unfriendly: the ponies are imitating the relics of human civilization without fully comprehending them. Also the thing with the train being pulled by a team of ponies; the locomotive is probably non-functional because they just copied the form. Like those cargo cults that were created on some small Pacific islands during WW2 and built replicas of aircraft from bamboo.

If Gods existed in a world where mortals can raise the Sun and Moon.....Celestia help us all.

Though clearly a form of higher authority exists above Princess Celestia and Luna. Perhaps a Queen who controls the passage of time? I don't think there's a great God Pony in the sky though. Maybe there are various other Celestia- and Luna-like god ponies that exist (perhaps from non-Equestrian nations?), but you can't really get more powerful than controlling a celestial body.

the God? What are you talking about?

Celesia is a combination of Zeus, Apollo, and Helios, with some Athena thrown in for good measure.

Luna is Artemis, with a dash of Hades.

I suppose the Dragons may have their own gods...
