I hope moviebob doesn't have a heart attack or something. Also, I already knew about twilight being number four because my little sister was downstairs cheering about it.
Agent 009, you understand that the human race must be treated correctly and carefully cared for it to continue its existence and power. You have been selected for the enthralling* task of its pruning. You will find an Anaconda Revolver under your chair, there will be one bullet within the chamber. You know what must be done.

1) Sherlock Holmes
2) Inglorious Bastards
3) Avatar

I'm not going past 3 because no others (that I have seen) really stood out in my opinion.

Was pirate Radio any good? I kind of lost hope in it when I learned that the main hero was a thirty year old American saving a bunch of British teens. I mean I'm American and it still comes off as smug to me. Maybe if the guy's channeling Elvis...

That's what you get for watching television.

Let's be honest. #1 movie of 2009 is Drag Me To Hell.

My favourite movies of 2009
#1. Sherlock Holmes
#2. Avatar
#3. Ice Age 3 (Did that come out this year? I don't remember)
#4. Inglorious Bastards

[small]My memory sucks, so if any of those movies didn't come out this year, please tell me[/small]
Ice Age 3 is on DVD now, so I don't think so.
Came out in 2009, July. Was the 9th highest grossing film.
Oh, the rest of the top grossing films:
5. Hangover
6. Star Trek
7. Avatar
8. Monsters vs. Aliens
9. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
10. The Blind Side

Transformers, Twilight, and Avatar being in the top 10 grossing movies proves once again that crappy movies are popular.

However, best movies of the year:
1. Up
2. Up in the Air
3. Hangover
4. Zombieland
5. Inglourious Basterds

Here's the thing-Pirate Radio is the bastardized American version of Boat That Rocked, which was GREAT. I loved Boat That Rocked. Great cast, great idea, wonderful music. The problem with Pirate Radio, though, is that it's edited in ways that sort of make the American DJ the central character, when originally there is no central character, it focuses on the whole group. On top of that, they cut and rearranged certain scenes and songs for no reason, sometimes screwing up the proper order of the movie. If you haven't seen the original British version of Boat That Rocked, I suppose Pirate Radio will still be okay, but I STRONGLY recommend that you try to see the original Boat That Rocked instead.

Yeah, but the name makes it sound like a- It would just be awkward renting or buying it.

Recently I stumbled down stairs to grab some new years snacks and the TV caught my eye. Someone had a New Years awards channel on and it was flicking through the top movies of the year. It was already at four.

4# Avatar

3# Up

#2 Inglorious Basterds

#1 District 9
Oh, you scared me. For a second there, I thought they said Twilight and Transformers 2.

Good list.

I don't agree with those choices myself but at least the trend of only having artsy fartsy movies in the top 5 is being replaced by action orientated and more enjoyable films that the public actually like and not what the critic/reviewer likes.
Most reviewers hardly watch the movies anyway as they rarely like taking their heads out of the own arses for any great length of time imho.

My personal favourite was District 9.

Oh and on a related note apparently the best TV show of the decade is Top Gear.

Best movies of 2009:

1 - The Messenger. Amazing. The best acting I have ever seen in a movie. Both Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster deserve Oscars for this movie. A touching film which admittedly earns its way to number 1 on the back of the acting which is beyond perfect.

2 - Inglorious Basterds.

3 - Moon.

4 - District 9.

5 - Up in The Air.

Honorable mention to Avatar.
I think this list is the one that resembles my thought best.
