I gotta say I can't stand The Beatles.

Yeah I know they influenced alot of todays music but I just find them depressing.
I respect your opinion, but I can't understand how you can find them "depressing."
Their association with liverpool and the 50s & 60s and just their music. When I hear one of their songs I get a 'there's no hope left' sort of feeling.
Uh, I don't know which songs you're listening to, but that's not what I hear in "All You Need is Love", "Good Day Sunshine", "I've Just Seen a Face" or any of their other songs. But whatever, that's your feelings.

I heard that Kurt wrote heart shaped box about courtney's vagina. That's heresay, though. Sonic Youth has quite an expansive catalogue, so you could listen to one album and think it's trash, and hear another one and absolutely love it. I don't think it's fair, however, to call them sellouts, as I've never heard anything like it except for later bands that mentioned them as an influence. I do agree regarding Hole - a friend used to refer to their big MTV "comeback" as Fleetwood Mac part deaux.

As far as riot grrl music as a whole is concerned, I'm really not that interested, though I would like to see more talented women in rock and not just another hot bassist here and there (though I'd love to hear more vocals out of Paz Lenchantin). I am a fan of the yelps and the Joan Jett growl, I think that's about the sexiest thing in any form of music, a very big reason I'm a fan of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and latter-day Brode Dalle stuff.
Hola have got back together now. Well, Courtney has no money so she's roped in... auf der Maur I think and the guy from Larrikin Love. Probably won't happen, hope it doesn't. The problem with Sonic Youth was that they seemed to change what they were about a lot, that's why I feel like they were a bit fake. "If Sonic Youth thinks you're cool, does that mean everything to you?"

The thing about riot grrrl is that it isn't relevant anymore, as proved by Bratmobiles reunion and Le Tigre. The situation is probably about as good as it's ever going to get, so what can they sing about? The guy that didn't try to rape them? The only riot grrrl... issue, if you will, is probably low self worth amoungst young women, but these bands aren't young women anymore, so why should the youth still listen to them? There are still bands like Comanechi and Mika Miko (disbanded a few weeks back actually) about so the music is still there, but the message wouldn't get through even if they tried, so why bother? All we can hope is that teenaged girls find their idols from places outside like supermodels and out of touch solo artists, and look more into people like Karen O and hope that positive role models have a positive effect. They won't, but we can hope.

Radiohead have dissappeared completely up thier own collective asshole in recent years.
Doesn't mean they're not one of the best bands around. Or one of the best live acts around.

Man lumping pink floyd with everything else on your list just isn't fair... =/
Of course it's fair. Pink Floyd sounds horrible.

I like a lot of bands and different kinds of music, and a lot that has been mentioned here. But when I think about bands (music) I don't like there is really only one name that comes to mind, the killers. I think the singer sounds so whiny.
:'(''''''''''''''''''''''''' That makes me sad.

It's tough, since I do actually have a great appreciation for popular music.

I can't stand Pink Floyd. I really don't know what there is to like about them.
Besides the fact they had great riffs and an original style. I will never understand people who don't like great bands like Pink Floyd. They just don't make the slightest bit of sense.

As for me, I dislike like bands that don't at least try to do something original or create at least one good riff. One good riff, thats all I ask, it couldn't be that bloody hard.

Unfortunatly this goes for most bands I hear about but some have surprised me like Between the Buried and Me.
original =/= interesting

Same with you. What the hell would you say is interesting? Actually it doesn't matter, you will probably just choose something else that's good that someone else doesn't like and you will never understand those people.

This band Waking the Cadaver is the worst ass piece of shit I have heard.

how can you compare that to this
Why compare a grindcore band with old school death metal? Two completely different genres.

Oh, and Chuck Schudliner was a god of music.
He was more than a god of music he was the god of music. Waking the Cadaver are brutal deathcore.

I'll still throw on Symbolic these days for my melodic death metal fix. Crystal Mountain alwasy brings a smile to my face.

The Rolling Stones. Paint it Black is the only song by them I can actually stand, and everything else is just meh.
Also, any rapper that's gained any amount of fame I'm almost certain to hate. 50cent, Soulja Boy, Kanye West, and the rest can take a goddamn hike, and spend it learning how to create real music.
And finally, I do not understand the appeal behind "Lady" Gaga. I just don't get it.

Slipknot- Their riffs are downtuned and pathetic, they need three percussionists to cover up for the fact that Joey Jordison fucking sucks, they wear crappy little poser masks to get attention different and use a DJ. Plus their fans are a bunch of screaming twelve-year-old "maggots" who think they're rebelious and unique because they shop at Hot Topic and listen to Slipknot. The fact that some people actually call them metal is disgusting.

RATM- I like a few of their songs but the irony of the fact that they're songs that hate on the capitalist system were responsible for making them live in a huge ass mansion is just to good to pass up.

Nickelback- There's a reason they have a song called "I wanna be a Rockstar" and that's because they're not and they fucking suck.

You... hate... MARLEY?! I... What?

I general dislike most rappers, but I really hate Kanye West for that "Voice of the generation" remark. Voice of the generation, my arse.

The Nirvana hate in this thread makes me a sad panda.
