Popular bands that you don't like?

Basically, every artist older than 20 years that so-called 'musical experts' come up with as "the best artist of the last 100 years" if some musical noob tries to tell them Bullet For My Valentine is the most awesome band ever. So what would be The Beatles, The Who, Led Zepplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, etc, etc.

None of these are bad artists (in fact, I know very little work of some of them, and some are indeed pretty damn good) but the fact that they are always pushed forward as "the pinnacle of musicianship" just annoys the heck out of me. Sure, populair music nowadays sucks and pop used to be better 20-30 years ago, but that does not make the Who the fucking king of the world.

That's right, it makes Pink Floyd the fucking king of the world (probably the most tongue-in-cheek thing I've said all day).

Yeah I know they influenced alot of todays music but I just find them depressing.

OT: I don't like to hate bands, dislike them yes but the only band I can say that I absolutely hate with a passion is Slipknot. They are the only band that I cannot stand to listen to for even the slightest second, next might be Hinder, but I wouldn't say they are 'popular'. I can't listent to either without draining the happiness from everyone around me.

I believe it was Wander Freak who did a review of this CD. How he made it through shit like this, is beyond me. But I know one thing: He's a hero. That's for DAMN sure.

There is little music that I hate. Lots of music I don't care about, yes, but only few have earned my hate.

But here are bands that I think are overrated, even if they're good:

- John Lennon (never cared for him, and would probably be no one, if he hadn't been shot.)
- U2 (I like some of their songs, but they are just OVERRATED!)
- Iron Maiden (this band is actually one of my all-time favorites, but they are over-played in rock radios and such.)
- TOOL (I'm not a big fan of progressive music, but I have a lot of friends who are, and they all love TOOL.)

Anyway... My choice is Rise Against. The little that I've heard I've somewhat enjoyed but I just haven't been able to get into them. Maybe one of the contributing barriers to me liking them is that everyone.likes.rise.against.

If you got into Rise Against early on, they remain awesome sauce despite their popularity (at least for me anyways). ^^

No, but seriously: U2, Aha (popular here in Norway at least), Killswitch Engage, Jonas Brothers (do they even qualify as a real band?) and most other bands from this millennium.

Killswitch? Seriously? Do you not like metalcore or is there something specific about them?
