COD6. Its....just...so...GENERIC.
Yes it it, but it does it well. Thats the funny part, we who like cod 6 will never argue that it isn't generic, we just like to play it because it is a fairly decent modern fps, with a fun, if laggy, multiplayer.
Yes it is fun to spray bullets and blame bad scoring on lag and mw2 does do this well. but there are other games that do it better. and i fail to see why so many people called it the best game ever when it first came out.

Yeah I found Bioshock really... average on my first play through. It picked up a *lot* as I got going (I actually dropped it for a week or so around about meeting Dr. Steinman), but I still didn't find it to be one of the best FPSs ever, which some make it out to be.

Yeah, as much as I loathe casual games and silly fluff like Halo and GoW, I understand their appeal; the concept of buying massive, clunky peripherals to play those pointless games is truly baffling though.

I know the series is shit now and hardly anyone likes it, but even back in the 90's when it was popular, I never understood why people like Sonic the Hedgehog. They all played the same, push right and occasionally hit B to win. At least the Mario games had proper platforming and didn't seem to be the same game just reversed for the sequels. I was a SEGA fanboy until they started cramming Sonic down our throats.

And don't even get me started on the weirdness of the Sonic fandom, they make Twilight fangirls look normal.

FF13, "it gets fun after 13 hours" well thanks, but i have shelves of games which are also fun for the first 13 hours.
I don't know why people say that.

FF13 was fun after the first 3 minutes. That can be shorter if the game is already unwrapped and in the console.

Perhaps I am just incredibly weird and enjoy a well thought out story with an interesting battle system.

Does that count as a "I don't understand?"

I don't understand why anyone thinks it takes 13 hours? Is it soemthing Yahtzee said or soemthing?

Modern Warfare 1. COD4 has been praised by everyone I know, and I can't find myself liking it at all.

Not only that, but the whole "realistic shooter" genre hasn't wowed me yet.

I don't like realism in games. I want a game to be as unrealistic, insane, crazy, and off-the-wall as it can get. Show me how nuts you can be, developers! I can take it!!!

Oblivion and Oblivion: Guns Edition.

Morrowind was mildly entertaining for maybe an hour. I guess I'm just not big on "role playing," but I thought the whole point was to DO IT WITH OTHER PEOPLE. I mean jesus guys, role-playing is generally reserved for the meganerds that fail contemporary human interaction (I'm a nerd myself, a lot of my friends play REAL pen and paper RPGs so I'm just jabbing, not hating), so how bad do you have that you can't even find other nerds willing to play RPGs with you?

Of course, those aren't the people who play these games, it's the new generation that's never actually played an RPG before and all have huge boners for anything new regardless of whether it's any good. "I have never played this, therefore it is innovative, since only games I have played exist, and being innovative naturally makes it awesome by default, therefore I will go rave to all my friends about this drab, boring game and they will buy it to copy me and try to be popular."

It's gotta be Halo for me. not just Halo, but 2, 3 and all the spin offs. I just can't see what is so popular about it, but then again, 13 year olds are attracted by bright colours, hence the most retarded armor in the history of the military was born.
Obvious troll is obvious.

Yeah the way it is phrased is quite troll-ish, but I also don't "get" Halo. With the exception of the Earth section of Halo 2 which was rather good. It's very much a marmite game.

I especially don't get how a lot of my friends got obsessed with Firefight in ODST.

But in general, straight FPS games feel very samey to me no matter how polished and flashy they are.

But a lot of people don't understand my obsession with 2D shmups.

Since the story is excellent as well.

Also, I'm really sick of this thread. It's been done about a million times and it all boils down to the fact that everyone has different opinions.
Hey that's great, but if that's all I wanted, I'd read a book or watch a movie. I'm not saying you should worship plotless games like Doom as as the holy grail of gaming, but I don't think you should focus so much on story you forget to make the game part of the fucking game not shit either.

Bioshock, call of duty: modern warfare (mw2 is worse, but more hated so I'll abstain from hating it like no doubt most other people have) and especially left 4 dead (and by extension it's sequel).

As has been said, Bioshock had a good atmosphere and pretty graphics, but the guns were bland and largely pointless. The gameplay was, at absolute best mediocre, steampunk has to be good to work for me, so it's one of those games I found wasn't worth the effort.

Call of duty modern warfare felt like a slap in the face after the awesome that was CoD2. Ridiculously unbalanced perks, out of game levelling and relatively crap maps made this game stand out poor for me. I know I said I'd abstain from spouting hate at MW2, but my reasons for hating aren't limited to it being the PC game designed to set up subscription based FPSs, I also genuinely dislike the game mechanics as it's more of the same.

Left 4 dead was boring as hell, 4 player half life with more zombies and less combine...yawn. The gunplay was atrocious, especially given how good every other FPS game released in the past few years have been[footnote]other than bioshock, of course.[/footnote]. I'd much sooner play Killing floor or TF2 than left 4 dead.

Call of Duty and Guitar Hero/Rock Band.

Neither game really appeals to me at all.

Metal Gear Solid. I enjoyed the first one, but the next ones are seriously overrated.

For me it's Halo. I was excited to see what the hype was about but i just found it mediocre, just because it's on console doesn't make it a great game. Their were already a ton of much better FPS's on PC at the time.

Personally i love it when games are synced to the music, and Guitar Hero is all that. When it gets more fast paced it's really fun and rewarding.
If you haven't already make sure to try on a harder difficulty and pick a song you like ;D

Mega Man games.
It doesn't seem desgined to give the player a fun experience, it just wants you to die.
I can completely understand why someone wouldn't like those games. It's probably mostly for how rewarding it feels progressing through it. I find the gameplay really fun, the difficulty is just a little tedious sometimes.

Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. Even Halo. Hell, maybe I just have a thing against fanboys. Or the people who typically play games like that. I just couldn't get into any of the above games and cannot understand the appeal.

I understand why people would like Halo (interesting premise, you're playing The Man With No Name IN SPACE!, maybe the first game of it's kind they played), but I never cared for it. I don't think it was bad, just that it was...kinda meh. I usually don't like shooters, anyway.

I liked the first Metroid Prime, though. Does that count?

'pologies.
