halo, gears of war, and call of duty.

This may stem from my hatred of fps games in the first place. and before anyone goes "blah blah blah you just played a bad title blah blah play HAOLTREEGEOWURTOOSEEODOODYONE" I played the original turok, turok 2, and half life, and i didn't like any of them.

Mostly because tilting the control stick right makes the main character sidestep like a retarded crab ensuring the enemy getting a perfect profile shot rather than turning right like a reasonably intelligent sentient being.

Some people have said they hate GTA IV, I couldn't agree more.

My reasons for hating the game? Little, spoiled rotten 13-year olds think it's cool, apparantly, it's realistic that you are a little brownish dot on the screen in front of a BLACK background, and pretty much everything Yathzee criticizes about it.

so that people know what kind of game it might be. they just dont carry on from each other. Final Fantasy X-2 is a sequel. so is Final Fantasy 7:crisis core. just they way they do it i guess

any game set in WWO2 THIS PATH IS OVER! and the Final Fantasy series for dragging on for 10+ sequals
um there not sequels.

OP: i hate FIFA with a passion ^^
the why do they number them?
I look at Final Fantasy in the same way I look at Zelda, Mario and to some extent Prince of Persia. It's a brand, not a game series. It's basically telling you what the game is about, how it plays, the style of it, the theme of the plot and so on. It's got to the point where Final Fantasy is almost the studio name, and X XII are the game names. Occasionally this lets them do some pretty neat things with the series (The foreshadowing about the Gardens in 8 just because the headmaster is called Cid, the character design throwbacks in 9, the massive emotional punch when summons are used as nukes in 9, the airship names in 12)

So much of the Final Fantasy hate would be completely obliterated if Square just gave them all unique names, or even thematic names like the -Shock games.

Also, cribbing shamelessly from the Movies You Hate thread - Why is EVERYTHING the worst ever? Or the best ever? Is it not possible to like something despite its faults? Can something not be poor-but-enjoyable (Say, Wolverine. Yes the effects were poor and the story was stupid but the fights were kinda nice and the final showdown was pretty neat) or excellent-but-flawed (Say, The Dark Knight)? The tendency towards extremes annoys the hell out of me.

Guitar hero games, how can a literal button mashing game where you time notes scrolling down a screen be considered fun?I thought those types of games where restricted to reaction testers for 6 year olds.

I have intense hate against any game thats console-exlusive, because i put my money into a self assembeled computer (and no I refuse to call it "rig") and a laptop for studies and occasional games when I'm to lazy to move my desktop computer (wich is always), and as a result I don't own a console. Come to think about it, I don't even have a TV. So a console-exclusive is therefor something I can't play, thus I hate it.

Agreed, I hate those games too, but Guitar Hero CAN be fun when you're drunk along with a lot of friends, who is also drunk.

I have to say it, I hate Halo3, before you treat me as a fanboy, I own an XBOX 360 and a copy of halo, and yes I played it.

Curiously I also hate Killzone 2 (yes I own a PS3 too, and the game), so it migth be related to not liking FPS in consoles.

Portal, MW2, half life/2, TF2, L4D seriously sick of reading/hearing about these godamned games and unanimous valve praise, seriously Portal was 3 hours long with one shot humour and zero replay value bar nostalgia.

Anything with regenerating health. The modern mix of RPG and FPS. Games where graphics and realism takes precedence over fun and storyline.
What's so bad about regen health? before, all you had was a health bar which really pissed me off since it was fairly common to go into a massive boss fight with 2 health.
That made it exciting. I remember my heart racing because I had 10 health left and I knew I was about to get into a big firefight. That's why I enjoyed FPS games. With regen, I just hide behind a box for a minute.

And on your point about these people being right... Why the hell do I care about these other people? This entire thread is about 'popular' things that I, as an individual, hate - not what is awesome and what isn't.

how can you hate both regenerating health and realism?
I explained why I hate regen health in my last post, but I mean when realism and graphics take precedence over the fun factor of the game, or the storyline (hopefully, a game will be fun AND have a good storyline, but sometimes - people sacrifice one for the other). I like realism in games - I don't like when a game is made boring by the realism or the storyline takes a seat behind graphics.

They're not sequels, they're different games.

Well anyways, I hate Football related games, and I guess I never liked Gears of War.
