Its Antarctica, it stays a pretty constant temperature of below freezing I believe. So when they freeze they don't defrost.

Fine by me, but that island will have to be quarantined, and any risk of spreading it would be unacceptable, so we won't actually be able to give them a ride home afterwards, and we'd have to kill them if they found their own ride...

But hey, if they can find a nice comfortable niche for themselves in a zombie infested wasteland, then they can live out the remainder of their hellish lives with peace of mind knowing that they're no longer considered criminals by their governments.

If Australia ever gets a zombie problem we'll just adapt. It's not really any scarier that suburban spiders that can swim in your pool and kill in 20 minutes, deadly jellyfish at the beach, surfboard-eating sharks, venomous snakes in your backyard or spiders that pick birds out of the sky.
