My question is very simple, and is this: do you ever judge a member of The Escapist and the quality of their post on their post count? While many would say that the very idea is stupid, think about this - as humans we always look to people with authority, and I myself naturally assume that more posts = more authority.

So back to my original question? Yea, or nay?

Nope, I'd say it's one of the few petty qualities I don't have. If a Gone Gonzo said something idiotic it would be exactly the same as a Paperboy saying something idiotic.

Well, I may be more lenient on the Paperboy for being new.

Certainly not. Therumancer has about a quarter my post count and has been here longer, and I consider him to be one of the wisest and most interesting posters here.

So no, you could have posted 3000 posts of 'lol so true!' for all I know.

I simply refuse to vote to that poll.

But anyway, I only pass low post counts off as stupid when I see a gibberish post from that poster or some kind of bullshit uneducated opinion. I think the mods do the same because I noticed 100< post counts tend to get suspended or permabanned much faster.

Na' How many posts does not measure intelligence or status. Besides in the case of Max. Ha Ha!

Not really.
Though I sometimes think people with huge post counts need to get out more.
But my post count is pretty big..

Yes I do but usually in their favor if someone's is something not so good I wouldn't hold it against them but If Mr. reaper suddenly made a who would win in a barfight lelouch or spiderman thread I'd be much more disappointed.

In a very rare circumstance. That is, if I'm skimming through a thread with three or more pages, I'm more likely to read posts based on a high post count, as it tends to mean you've invested time in the community and care about your posts, of course that doesn't mean I assume their intelligent or anything like that, I simply use the post count as an indicator of posts I might want to read if I'm skimming. However I also go by posters I recognize, and I can tell you, most of the intelligent posters here tend to have over 1000 posts, not all but most.

Depends. I've seen very insightful people with low post counts, and very stupid people with high post counts. I think the only general assumptions I make are that a person with a Gone Gonzo post count either hasn't antagonized the mods too much (or antagonized them, but spelled things correctly) and that someone with under 100 posts is automatically more questionable until shown otherwise (then again, I have the same reaction to someone without an avatar...).

No, that'd be dumb. And Indigo_Dingo isn't here any more... You should have said MaxTheReaper.
I actually chose him with a touch of irony... as we all know, he didn't have the most balanced of opinions.

Not particularly.

People with high post counts can come out with something insanely stupid, while someone with a low one can come out with something that generates good discussion.

Most of the time, people with 14 posts don't know all the rules or how things work here. Sometimes you need time. I mean, I try to make new people feel welcome here, but for some reason I just tend to be more trusting of the people with high post counts.

I recognize that people with high post counts know a lot about the community and site, but I don't think they are superior in any way to someone who has just posted 20 times (unless that person posted 20 "OMG YAHTZEE THIS EP WAS THE BEST EVARRRRR")
